Level scaling broken?

Sorry if this is something well-kent. I notice that when you are levelling up towards L50, if we take, say, woodworking, then if you can craft oak, oak gear is also what you loot. So crafting your own oak staff//bow/shield is a viable option. However, when you get above L50, this all breaks down. You get to the situation where (for instance) you can only craft ash, but you are looting nightwood, so crafting ash for yourself is not an option. Surely this should not be so?

All nodes are always split in half. One half of them being nodes of your current character level and the other nodes of your current crafting level.

Sure, but it doesn't seem to be possible (or at any rate straightforward) to keep those aligned after L50, whereas before it is.

If you're regularly playing, getting to CP160 doesn't take that long, esp. if XP scrolls are used. Ash is what, CP10-30? You'll quickly outlevel that. If you are harvesting nightwood, then you are already CP90 at least.

You need to keep your crafting level consistent with your actual level if you want to harvest ONLY the materials that you can craft.

It is a 50% split between character level and crafting level, but when harvesting, you have a 50% chance for the one or the other, with each node you harvest. So, you could very well see a string of nightwood nodes that would lead you to believe you can no longer harvest ash. That's not the case, though, and over time, that 50% split between the two should be more apparent.

At lower levels, it might be easier to keep up with your crafting level and character level. But, if you are able to craft oak, then you'll see only oak as long as your character is between levels 16-25. Once your character hits level 26, they'll start seeing beech (I believe) in a 50% split with oak.
