That's awesome! Reminds me of a guy I'd see a lot in Vulkhel Guard called something like Elinhar the Unhurried who always walked instead of running.

My crafter lives in Alinor (now he's finally been allowed to move from Auridon to the main island), but on PC EU so sadly I never see Sleeps-on-Bridges. But I definitely see a lot of the same people around a lot of the time, and this article makes me think I should make more of an effort to stay in character and interact a bit, instead of being another one charging from the bank to the crafting stations and back.

As the article says this is exactly the kind of thing which makes playing an MMO special, and different to a single-player game.

For the first time in a long time, my wifey and a few friends did RP questing last night. We were walking around Kenarthi's (was the only place we all needed).

If there's anything this article tells me, it's to stop and smell the roses once and a while. Maybe if you're PCNA, maybe we'll meet walking along IC. :)

Chatting in zone can be a real rabbit hole, and counts you as active.

If he has nospin or nothankyou, he can be managing inventory, setting up skills, or even just watching the cyro map without breaking emote.

He could also just be looking around him every five minutes or so while watching netflix.

Occasionally he triggers a guard to attack him and he positions himself and the guard to perform an action to be grappled every few seconds. It's a way to nearly guarantee activity on the character that removes the possibility of an idle timeout.

Making a lot of players smile at least for a bit? Few have achieved that. Petty are the ones that fail to aknowledge it and feel the need to insult him.

I love this! I found this character in Vivec City the other day and it felt like seeing a celebrity. Had a brief nap on the bridge as well. Very refreshing. I brought my son in to see b/c he plays too. My wife thought we had lost our minds I think.

yes! there are so many people that think that the only proper way to play an MMO is by doing group content designed for groups, in a group. but the truth is - the most memorable MMO experiences tend not to come from structured content, but from these sort of spontaneous interactions.

I mean, i've been playing WoW on and of for at least a decade, and one of my fave memories is STILL to this day the day when I accidentally started an impromptu dance party. was just chatting in voice with a friend while hanging out in a major city and just emoting at each other on our characters and we started dancing and just... more and more people started to join in and some people started to provide special effects via AoE combat abilities and it. was. GLORIOUS. we didn't clear any content, got no achievements. just had a bunch of people coming together and just having goofy fun.

some of my favorite memories in ESO do not involve difficult achievements, or clears. they involve goofing off with guildies, laughing our butts off.

what Sleeps-on-bridges accomplished is making this community feel like, well.. a community. a living world with living people.

yes! and i mean some of my fave ESO moments involve BBC events that are just social events, rather then clears of anything, so.. there's that :D

but seriously sometimes people wonder... "if you prefer to play solo, why do you even play an MMO??"

this is why, these community interactions is why.

Birthday bash hype!!! Darts & Amazing Race ftw! So excited for next week!!

Sorry, back to the topic at hand... Having a killer community gives this game life beyond/in between content. Which is exactly what Sleeps does and why I enjoy him so much.

Yeah, MMOs can be incredible like that. I've had a few amazing impromptu in-depth, one-off convos in SWTOR that went on for hours that never happened again. A spontaneous RP exchange on Dromund Kaas between an Imperial Agent playing a customs officer and one of my warriors. A cacophony "music" party that sprung up in GW2--none of us could play. A chat convo where a bunch of GW2 peeps shared memories about their grandparents :)

I guess I should re-open zone chat here one of these days. Maybe take a spin around Vvardenfell. I'm missing those memories here.
