Screens from 17th of march in beta. No lag at all
And not everybody had a horse still, or the 1 gold imperial horse. This was of course low level people too
I loved that look so much more TBH. Also everyone on horses looked more impressive when riding in armies than what we have now with all sorts of random things.Daggerfall had one helluva poverty problem back then huh. No colorful armors or skoria helms or flashy mounts. Just hundreds in rags and cast off weapons.
I remember it looking similar on the first day of One Tamriel - when they dropped the subscription. More variety of clothing of course but still loads of people in Daggerfall (and I assume the other starter cities). What was really nice then was there were also high level players welcoming us and offering advice on where to go and what to do.🤣 off noob island, the weather is much better there.
After a while in the betas I asked if it was ever sunny in Daggerfall, because I'd only ever seen rain or cloud, I was starting to think they'd done it deliberately to help with the theme of the area.

The sub was droped way before onetamriel
It was droped before console realese (before imperial city)
Ont tamriel came after the hist dungeon
Don't have the picture anymore as it's on an old computer, but I remember having one of the mass of players stuck at the end of the Coldharbour questline in the first weeks of the game.
There was a part where you had to get in position to aim at something on the walls, and for most you had to be on the edges of these platforms, but one of them was glitched so that you couldn't reach it no matter where you stood on the edge. Eventually someone found that you could reach the activation marker point if you ran fast enough and suicide jumped off one of the ledges, but you had to do it fast enough before you died. Was kinda funny watching everyone keep trying to jump off at the right spot.
Then after all of that struggle the next room just didn't have a script running, so there was dozens upon dozens just standing around playing songs and using the hammer emote on Gabrielle Benele.
