Maintenance for the week of February 23:
· [COMPLETE] NA megaservers for maintenance – February 23, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)
· [COMPLETE] EU megaservers for maintenance – February 23, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 17:00 UTC (12:00PM EST)
· [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – February 23, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 12:00PM EST (17:00 UTC)

Does ESO have a good support for multi cores?

Aw shoot. I was hoping the ZoS post in this thread was some developer insight on this matter. Instead it is just another "We moderated this thread be civil, please." post.

On topic: I view this current period as another awkward moment in game development. The transition from the old to the new. Much like when "3d" games first hit the scenes with the N64 and PS1, it will take a lot of refining before everyone is on the same page regarding modern hardware/software. This includes DX12 compatibility and 64-bit integration.

It will come. It just takes time.

    No it will not.

Considering how long the problem has been, it is likely a deep-seated engine issue, that has persisted well past 64-bit intergration and DX11. I would stop hoping for it to get fixed, it is not geting fixed.

See my post above. You can set the processor affinity for each thread in your application, including the main one.

I myself have used affinity sometimes to slow down some other processes on purpose to slow them down (to free resources for others). It does not speed up a process.

Now i beg the question, why hasn't this post bumped when you replied?

    Does this post even bump?

I get what he's saying about the single core usage. And I figured his system just wouldent multithread and he assumed it was the same for everyone. But when he mintioned a single thread being split by windows but still just running about 1thread usage I understood. I thought my old I7 920 was totaly up to snuff at 3.8ghz because it runs at 30% usage, so there's tons of over head right? Well yes and no. There is tons of over head just not for eso.

I have been setting the resolution and details till I hit about 60fps, at which point the video card pegs usage at 100% and cpu usage is 30, so I call it good.

    I run at 4k resolution.
Well it turns out the cpu can only pump out about 70fps. If I turn my graphics slider to auto horrible details or ultimate details I still get the same 70ish fps, and the same cpu load spread pretty evenly across all eight cores one core might have 30% more load on it then the rest. The total cpu usage hovers around 30% and I can't get it to go above that or 80fps regardless of what I do. And there is no vsyinc turned on choking it up.

I can get the cpu usage to go down some by turning on absoulty every HQ setting though.

On my new 1070ti at 4k and all the max settings turned on except grass and low particle sliders 50% view distance I am just about perfectly matched on cpu vs gpu. Meaning it's about 50/50 on which one is maxxed out at any given time (by cpu being maxxed out I mean the gpu isn't)

The way I now understand it. If you cant get your gpu to run at 100% usage then your cpu is a bottleneck. Even if the cpu looks like it's only 30% busy.

Sorry I didn't mention you by name but I'm old, and on a cellphone, and if i try to find it now it will probably erase my whole message. Thanks for the insight.
