Im looking to try new things and I get smacked down hard. a fight for me in pvp is about as exciting as getting 1 shot after saying hello, Not that I want to say hello to anyone in cyrodil.\
I'm a sorc. I am magicka with a staff. I wear light armor. What are some suggestions I could go with from that knowledge.

Keep your shields (Harness/Dampen Magic and Hardened Ward) up. You will die immediately otherwise.

Get your impen and health up so you last long enough to get an idea of what's going on.

So Impen trait is most needed? What crafted set is suggested?

I like using force pulse is that a usable spell or is there another suggested skill for basic attack?

This. The stronger your offensive stats the stronger your self healing and shields will be, but first you need to survive longer than a couple seconds to use them. Add only as much defense as you need and spend the rest on offensive stats. You also need to be a lot more well rounded in pvp, buffing all three stats along with sustain is really important.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

@Joy_Division has a great guide for Midyear Mayhem that has everything I wish I'd known about PVP in Cyrodiil way back when I first started on my MagDK: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/427360/joys-2018-advice-for-midyear-mayhem-event

Beyond that, what I found helped me was three things:
    1. Getting tanky. I wore Plague Doctor armor on my healer. I still died, but at least I lived long enough to figure out what mistake I'd made.
    2. Wear impen trait armor. This protects somewhat against enemy crits.
    3. Find a group to play with. When I was new in Cyrodiil, I was very ineffective on my own. It was much easier to survive and learn how to play PVP with a group. I started out running with PUGs and eventually found a PVP guild that fit how I liked to play.

The learning curve in PVP is pretty steep, but I found a playstyle I enjoy and good friends to play with, and that made it all worth it.

    Welcome to Cyrodiil!

AD is losing the battle almost all the time I have been back. I recently came back to ESO after maybe a year. I was pretty even when I left on the campaign I was in. Now they have changed the campaigns. Does it fluctuate a lot now or has everybody left AD?

My best advice to you would be to start a new character to learn on. Make a new sorc and at level 10, immediately go into Kyne. Stay in Kyne with that character until you hit level 50. Do not wear any crafted sets on the character and only use what you are given from RotW boxes. It sounds extreme. But learning to survive and kill on a low level toon with subpar gear is going to increase your knowledge of your class in PVP and your understanding of PVP itself. Then, you take that knowledge once you hit level 50 to your already leveled Sorc and you will be a much better player. Unfortunately, no amount of gear will cover the skill gap for you. It takes practice. And Kyne is the best practice location.

what faction has the more cooperative players? I know that is a very loaded question and has a lot of different factors.

I am normally AD but its a ghost town on AD side.

You're a MagSorc. The first and default thing you can do is slot both Hardened Ward and Harness Magicka and just spam those two back to back. Then use Destructive Clench, Haunting Curse, Crystal Fragments, and Mage's Wrath. If you time the Fragments and Wrath just right with Curse then you'll most times be one shotting people yourself. And your shield stacking will make them salty.

What ever sets you run, all pieces should be impen in pvp. You can change that up if want when you get good, but til then, all impen. Consider a set like impregnable too or fortified brass for durability. Make sure you have solid regen.

Look up the builds online for pvp mag sorc and go from there. Generally, you'll want one set to help you survive, and one set for resources and resource regen. Again, when you get good, you can think more about fancier builds.

I only play my sorc for an hour or 2 in Cyrodill per campaign these days, just so I can get tier 1 and the 50 transmute stones. I wear my 100% divines PvE damage gear, but I still manage to get quite a few kills. You just have to pick your fights. If you can get in a group fight and keep your shield up as well as power surge, then usually you can survive quite well as long as you don't get focused by multiple players. Make sure to hit your target with curse and stay moving while you spam attacks and keep pressure on them.

A lot of Sorcs are wearing armor master and other tanky sets in pvp these days. So if you want to play a sorc fulltime in pvp you might wanna look into that. Bounce around a lot and use the twilight to heal as well if you do:-D Sorcs are fun to fight when you run into a good one. The game is so laggy these days I prefer to play NB so I can at least try to cloak and duck out if skills wont go off, bars wont swap etc . On sorc, if youre playing in Asia or an Oceanic region then its terrible. The 400ish ping average these days makes me leave Cyrodiil often. Good luck to you though.

I play NA and I typically have no less than 60 frames per sec (up to 100) and I never have high ping rate.. granted my experience in cyrodiil is typically like ghost town so I cant really understand why everybody is talking about lag spikes etc. Maybe AD just doesn't lag.. heh

All great suggestions on this thread. I was primarily a PvE player and forced myself to get involved a bit with PvP during the midyear mayhem last year. I had also obtained my master angler before that and remember sneaking across the whole darn map because I was terrified of Cyrodill.

Then I decided to work on getting my war horn for my characters so I started following PvP zergs around and eventually got invited to group. Shortly after that, I found my guild. Such a great group of people and now I'm hooked on PvP and play almost daily. I'm more of a support person so really enjoy healing and supporting the fight. I do like the suggestion of starting a character from scratch though and learning the ins and out of the class. Once I reach Grand Overlord on my healer, I'm doing to do exactly that with a DPS character. My guild has really helped me learn strategy and how I can best support the fight.

One other suggestion is to find a group who is nice and plays nice. Our group doesn't teabag, grief folks, trash talk, etc. Our teamspeak is clean language only. If we die, we die. Laugh it off and try again. It is all fun.

I like all the suggestions. I think I need a pvp guild. What I want most is to have fun with a group. I have a 8 year old that insisted on playing eso with daddy though so I have to be careful who I decide to play with.

My 9 year old does on occasion. When he starts BG's I won't be able to yell, "you gotta dunk that s---!" to the relic carrier as he dies feet away...

Depends on the time you play. My guild plays Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays and AD does well. Whenever we aren't on the other factions do well.

It depends on the time of day you get on there. Weekends are a little more packed, but even then it happens that the whole map is yellow and **poof** everyone leaves, only to return 12 hours later. I suppose they have lives elsewhere, or need sustenance and sleep.

Get on at 9am EST and there'll be none, but 12pm EST and there's more already. At the end of everyone's 'normal' work day, 5pm EST it'll be 'packed'. We had a nice zerg last night, even though eventually EP and DC had larger ones. If you've never been hit by an EP tsunami (25+ people zerg walking over you and your group as if you don't exist  ) you haven't played yet. Of course, after you die, you'll respawn someplace and immediately go back to that place to see if you can hit back, or die again. Remember, eventually they'll tire of killing you. (or so we think  )

And while my character dies a lot, he's been in the top 10 leader boards on Shor for three weeks in a row now. I play for fun, for the interaction with the others. It's fun to log on, say "Hello AD!" in Zone and immediately get group requests.
    Jord.

As I burn down and murder, I know that God forgives.
'Spite all the things I've done my soul yet forever lives.
And all those caught in the shadow of my wings have cause to fear.
I swear on all I've done, no evil shall linger here.

This is what I want a Pvp guild that can help me to better myself. I am not aspiring to be the next emp. I just want to have fun and be a part of the team.
