Magicka NB Odd Question

So, I have been wondering if a 1H&S equipped was possible for a full Magicka NB as DPS or tank? I want to run the Magicka build without a staff for class skills. If I take no stamina skills and focus on light armor would I be able to DPS with it well enough? Using Siphoning Strikes to restore Magicka? Pretty much want to use skills like Strife, Twisting Path, etc but without a staff lol. Hoping it is possible with 1H&S as DPS but if I have to tank then that is ok as well lol.

dps always going to be lower, so why would you ever want to?
1h+s tank or staff dps unless roleplaying but then it wont matter just equip and rp away then do group content without needing a carry.

PVE or PVP. for pve you better stick wtih staves simply because u need magicka return instead of high magicka regeneration like in pvp, so you relay alot on heavy attacks. If pvp just go for dual wield, that will increase spell damage too but . 1h& shield could work but it's pointless you will lose some dps and there's no return from it, but it could work in pvp with atleast 15k stamina and heavy armour .
SO for pve stick with staves
PVP it could work, but you better off with dualwield than S&B

You also get many Magicka related passives for using destruction staves. Which are really good

Well, if I cant use Magicka with 1H&S how is Frost Staff for DPS or Tanking? I love NB class skills but not a big fan of fire staff lol

The big problem with a frost staff in a group when you're not a tank is the taunt on heavy attack; working around that is required. Beyond that, you lose the fire or lightning boosts to single-target or AoE DPS respectively. These are 8% nominally, but since they're additive with other boosts and since your damage will surely fall partially in either category, the hit to overall DPS is likely to be 5% or less.

By using an ice staff you will be loosing the 8% damage on all of your single target skills as well as the extra damage on blockade and the damage from the burning status proc. However as long as you are only doing non dlc vet content or normal dlc content you "should" be fine. However you are pretty significantly gimping yourself and as such no serious group will take you to end game content. If after all this warning you still want to go ahead with this, make sure you are still putting out 20-30k dps out of courtesy to your group members.

Pve Dps? No. At least not for end game content. For solo and casual normal dungeons, yes.

Pve tank? Yes, absolutely. Snb/frost staff nb tank works very well all the way up to vet trials non hard mode. Bit of a learning curve compared to ther class tanks, but still solid.

Pvp tank, again, very viable. Can be played into a durable healer or a hard CC setup.
