Am I crazy?

So I'm minding my own business exploring/gathering stuff when I noticed the gathering nodes seeming to 'vanish' before I could gather them.

I decided to watch a bit more carefully because it seemed like something was flashing for a split second when I was about to gather.

I wandered over to some jute and for a split second instead of 'harvest jute' my mouse said 'Interact with hjdgshjsa'. Then the jute disappeared!!

But nobody was there! I looked to the node about 20 feet away which also vanished as I approached it.

Am I losing my mind, or are there invisible people with gibberish names snatching everything up?

This happened right outside Emberflint Mine in Stonefalls where I just found a group of people with similar names standing in a circle around a spot where an elite spawns(inside the deepest part of the mine) holding down their attack keys. None of them spoke or moved, just stood there spamming their staves for the 15 minutes that I stood there trying to communicate with them before I went outside and saw gathering nodes disappearing.

Am I crazy?

No, with the 'megaserver' technology what you're seeing is behavior in other phases (copies) of the area you're in. The harvesting nodes unfortunately exist across all phases, they're not unique to yours.

Did you take your meds this morning?

seriously, i thought i did experience this once, but it was only once and i wasn't paying to much attention to it. Hasn't happened after that one moment.
Myrmidons, my brothers of the sword. I'd rather fight beside you than any army of thousands. Let no man forget how menacing we are, we are lions! Do you know what's there, waiting, beyond that beach? Immortality!Take it, it's yours!

Haha :) I had the same issue yesterday back in Bleakrock. Exactly the same crazy gibberish name and vanishing resource nods :) Two people - same thing - not crazy :]

Nope, I have seen similar things as well. And it doesn't seem to be just resource nodes either. Seems to be NPCs as well. Yesterday I was running around town and all the NPCs simply disappeared on me. I couldn't see players either, but oddly I could see their mounts running without riderless across town.

At that point I did a full system reboot and logged back in. Same problem again.

I figured it was obviously time for server maintenance and logged for the night. I figured why stay in a game I couldn't get anything done in?

I have had resource nodes vanish on me. Boxes, barrels... just bug it and go. They should be able to nail down the problem and rid ourselves of the "Phantom Menace"... see what I did there?

I seem to recall a time in WoW, where there were so many gold farmers that worked for gold spammers, that they had found a way to travel beneath the ground and only see resources, at which players complained that just as they were going to mine a resource a person would literally pop up out of the ground and beat them to it.
This was a long time ago in WoW, mid 2000's but I recall the thread in the WoW forums.
Only thing is, without a AH, I am not sure what the value is of gold in ESO compared to WoW.
