Banker & merchant: Worth it?

I mean they're expensive, but as a big fan of this game who is in it for the long-term, should I consider getting these upgrades?

Does the merchant buy stolen goods? Does the banker use the same inventory as any regular city bank?

The merchant does not buy stolen goods, you need the Fence assistant for that (from the Thieves Guild DLC). The merchant also doesn't repair your gear, nor does she sell anything like repair kits or whatever. You can only sell to her.

The banker does allow you access to your regular bank inventory, you can deposit and withdraw items and currency normally. But unlike banker NPCs in the world, he does not offer access to your guild banks or guild stores.

I'd recommend buying them when they're on sale, but they are useful on the long run - the banker far more than the merchant imo. Hope that helps

I don't think the merchant is useful. The only things I sell to merchants are trash items with no other use and equipment with the Ornate trait, and I never have a lot of them at once so it's not a problem to hang onto them until I find a merchant.

The banker would be useful, but IMO it's too expensive for what you get. If you buy crowns when they're on sale and then buy the banker when it's discounted it might be worth it, but I definitely wouldn't pay full price.

If you have multiple toons then banker is very useful to quickly move things around. Merchant is nice but they're easier to find out in the world compared to bankers.

Thanks guys. Yeah the merchant isn't for me then. I was hoping she could buy stolen goods. I see now that, that service is offered elsewhere.

I'll have to think about the banker. I'll probably take the advice of @Danikat and wait until a sale of some sort to reduce the price. I can certainly see use for him, but he is a bit expensive at normal price.

Have both and find the merchant much more useful.
You use merchant to sell junk you pick up, who is most of the items you find.
Yes you can bank items to sell later but this eat up bank space fast and is clunky.
Number of items you want to keep, deconstruct or sell to player is far lower.

Not saying banker is useless just less used. Note that you can not use either in cyrodil.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

While expensive they are worth it. 35 EUR for one, 70 for both, that's an ultimate version of a game with all DLCs included. A max. of 20 EUR/each would be great.

CROWN CRATES: It doesn't affect gameplay, it's not mandatory, it's cosmetic only. If it helps to support the game and ZOS, I support it! Say YES to crown crates.

I'm saving gold for the Cyrodilic Jungle House, and I have an idea on how to house the banker in some months time in the courtyard.

I would rather spend gold on bag upgrades. Since I've boosted those (not sure if I am at max or not) I've never needed a merchant or banker.

Both are extremely useful for when you are out in the middle of nowhere and do not want to have to go back to a town or hunt down a merchant. Often I go Delving and my bags fill up so fast, it's wonderful to be able to sell the junk on the spot and put the decon items in my bank for later and just keep on going!

Unless you mostly PvP in cyrodil, where the banker and merchant don't work, the banker is well worth it, by a country mile.

You could always obtain it via gold (ie gifting), which is how I got the merchant, as I has already got the banker with crowns.

The banker is the only thing I have ever bought with crowns; I don't regret it in the slightest.

They were both one of my first purchases and I've found both of them to be indispensable. Certainly cuts down on having to run to a town all the time!

If you value time over money (needed to aquire them), then yes they are 100% worth it.

Need to give some items to a different character but you're two miles deep in a dungeon? One click and you can drop everything in your bank for your other toon to pick up, right there on the spot. It's invaluable and you'll eventually take for granted how much easier it makes transporting and storing goods.

The banker is well worth it imo. It makes no information gear around so easy.
