What type of build is best for Solo/Duo play?

blaineswing_ESO
My wife is going to play a Magicka Sorcerer. I haven't decided on what I am going to do yet.

Is Tank, Stam, or Mag better for soloing/Duo?

Thank you, guys and gals. =)

PvP or PvE? This could affect the answer I give :)

Make it a Tank/Damage dealer based on stamina and work on some heals like Vigor.

I would make a stamina warden with Board and Sword to be able to use taunt and 2H back bar for Rally.

Would it be for doing group dungeons? Or for mostly Duo-ing overland content?

For tank You'll want at least a taunt, from the Sword + Shield skill-line to do the tanking role and keep the enemy in place whilst you both attack.
You might want to stack a little more into health + resistances than your wife, but not necessarily as a 'Full' tank, but a tanky Damage dealer maybe.
Outside of dungeons / trials a tank isn't really necessary. And even in dungeons, you can often go to more of a DPS role.

Essentially you can play any class for that role, each offers something unique.
IMO Ideally you'll both want an AOE, a DOT an Execute ability, and either a shield / self heal.
That way you should be able to perform well in overland or group content.

Just my opinion, but it's rather pointless to have a tank for overland, delves, public dungeons and world bosses.

Just stick with a DD with some self heal or a healer with some damage.

Tbh, you could play whatever you wanted and be fine.

Wait, you can make a Stamina Tank? I thought Tanks were Health, and DPS were Stamina/or Magicka?

We won't be focusing hardcore on dungeons, but we will do them when we get a chance. I have no problem being a Support role. But I also want to be able to solo effectively, including 2 manning dungeons for fun (if possible).

Should I wear heavy armor and make a Stamina build then?

I'd go Magicka Templar, the self management has always been so easy (though other classes have caught up).

Your sweeps will keep you alive and you have a pretty big aoe arsenal.
You'll also be able to help your missus with ritual and an occasional burst-heal if she needs it.

if you're just going to do the overland content and story stuff, you can run anything. The game is extremely easy by design that anyone can get by; even the more challenging stuff like world bosses the intention is to have 10+ gather to fight them and overwhelm with sheer numbers

as for dungeons, that's where you'll need to start thinking about your role and your build.

I would go with healer build that is focused on damage and group buffing. You might be able to get by with a single heal ability on either bar and than just run the rest DPS with buffing/debuffing as well.

If you go around together I would suggest balancing health and stam and really focus in on stam and weapon dagame but get aroun 20/25K health. You will be able to take the incoming damage but also deal massive damage with like sub terrean assualt if you are a warden. As you are asking for non standard build to duo you can and make a hybrid investing some in health try to get the best resitainces possible while wearing medium armor and have fun.

YOu can make a Stam Tank, a Mag Tank, whatever you want.

A stamina Tank like they told you means that would be a DPS tankier, like a guy more tought but with damage too

My wife plays a stamsorc and magblade. I usually accompany her with a semi tanky magplar or a stamden with the heal slotted. We have been able to duo clear a lot of stuff even some of the easier dungeons, just the two of us.
