since you asked...I don't actually play for the "lore", as in the history of the world. But I do play for the story, which is sorta the lore, in some ways. Point is, I enjoy the story, and in fact, I think you'd be robbing yourself of a LOT of content if you didn't allow yourself to enjoy the story presented for you.
After all, they put a LOT of text into this game, from quest dialogue and general npc conversational dialogue, to all the material in the various books. Sure, if you're not into that, that's fine - but you're cutting out a LOT of content that exists in the game, and since you're spending your time and possibly your money in here, I think you deserve to get your money's worth out of all the game features.
But, that being said, it's not a requirement, and I don't judge you for skipping the lore if you find other aspects of the game more interesting, or lore just isn't your thing.
THAT having been said, I *DO* judge you, at least a little bit, if you demand that all lore and story content be removed from the game in favor of whatever particular thing you DO like. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, I'm just saying that if that IS what you would do, then yes, I would feel free to judge you, not that my judgement would have any real impact on your life.
I enjoy Dungeons, Trials, Arenas, PvP... group content with other people, especially guildies... except vMA only solo content that's fine...WBs too sometimes...
I enjoy the combat system and theory crafting pvp builds... and the game has some amazing looking locations..
Yet I rather wipe for hours on a boss with a group trying to figure it out than do 20 minutes of solo questing.
I much rather mat farm than have to do solo questing tbh... i get to see the world and feels like I'm accomplishing something at least...
Some random telling me to go talk to some other random all the way at that end of the zone.. then run to that end of the zone talk to someone else and discover an item.. then go way over there then kill some 'boss', that even on alts without CP assigned is not a challenge to then go back and get a usually useless reward... miss me with that noise.
Pure time sinks and feel like chores, including that sometimes you have to ride all the way around in circles around mountain, which is purely designed to take longer. Even worse when you can basically see your destination over some rock, but of course that way is not climbable or has invisible walls...
9 capped toons and I have always subbed, yet...
6 have finished the main quest.. the others part ways in...
1 has Cadwell's Silver which I put myself through for the axes from the Soul Shriven motif. Same toon finished Thieves DLC and boy was that an exercise in patience. He might do Dark Brotherhood yet...
2 toons have done the main Vaardenfell quest line with Sotha Sil
1 has finished the Summerset questline
I've done the psijic questline on 6 toons because the skills are useful...
I have friends that are completionists looking for any and all quests and can argue about nuances of lore... but I just never got into it... then again I have never been into single player games, even FPS games, I rarely ever touched the single player campaigns and I could never buy an MMO that didn't have PvP..
Maybe that's why I find the all the tears about racial changes so confusing and also hilarious... to me they are stats attached to a certain looking player model...
Does anyone else just play ESO as they love MMOs and appreciate the game is fantastic... But has no interest in any of the lore?
I feel like I'm an outsider as I don't invest any time into the lore and I just want to play. Is there anyone with me? Am I missing out?
