Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Maybe the champion point system should be changed to horizontal/visual

50 points get a free pet...100 points get a free costume...250 points choose a monster helmet...500 points choose a maelstrom weapon....750 points choose a small house

Or do you think it should strictly be performance?

Another idea could be to link any bonus to a malus... for example increasing points in "berserker" increases damage done but lowers your resistance values

Other ideas?

People at Level 900 likely have all the vMA weapons and Monster sets they want. So no.

If a new system emerges, say, armories where progression is attached to items, and all items can be stored for safe keeping, so collecting all 9 traits of a weapon / armor applies all the benefits (it actually is quite comparable to the CP system ie invigorating trait vs the health / mag / stam regen perks).

That would leave the CP system redundant. If CP was a currency I'd want it to be spent on QOL.

50 points - Skeleton Key - No longer require lock picks
100 points - Crafted bag for Food (Can only store 200 of each type, unlimited for ESO+)
100 points - Crafted bag for Potions / Poisons (Can only store 400 pots / 2000 poisons of each type, unlimited for ESO+)
50 points - Crafted bag for Enchants (Can store 10 of each, unlimited for ESO+)
100 points - Utility belt - Can store Repair Kits (&Crown), Edicts, Undaunted Keys, Soul Gems (&Crown), Empty Soul Gems and anything else constituting a utility
100 points - Siege Bag - Can store alliance war gear (must be at full HP)

    Other things

100 points to sync lore books
    200 points to sync motifs
    100 points to sync recipes

NO, the truth is it is only a very vocal MINORITY that want CP / vert progression to go away.

If you ever got what you wanted ESO would die within a year. There are just not enough people who want to play a visual novel which is what you would turn ESO into.

While ESO does have a lot of lore it does not have a compelling enough story nor enough content to carry it for years on end with effectively no growth in character power.

Stop trying to kill a great game, games need vert progression and if that gets capped the game potential gets capped, PERIOD!

It's the reverse, brother. You clearly weren't around for the launch of the game...where there were no champion points and the game was actually very good and challenging.

I really don't see why vertical progression is necessary. We get plenty of progression as-is from new skill lines and gear. CP is just excessive bloat.

EDIT: Just saw your join date...you really think the game needs CP after seeing the game without it?

Game should reward time spent on it. Especially boring grinding every day.

And you could not be more wrong. Before CP was Veteran Ranks up to 14 of which I was one of the early ones at VR 14 and got the full CP roll over amount when they switched over to CP. Vert Prog is just that it does not matter what it is called. Oh AND I played beta.

Perhaps you forgot VR was the vert prog which turned into CP, either way there was vert progression and yes it was good and challenging because it had VR which become CP.

Again it had VR, the game was never without vert progression, just because we call VR CP and changed how vert progression works does not mean the game did not have it.

Here is a dirty little secret, when the game rolled over from VR 14 it did so with CP 300 (maybe 320 not sure exactly). Ever wonder why CP 300 seems to min standard the norm from VET dungeons? Well it is because they have never scaled the VET dungeons beyond VR 14, VR14 = CP 300(320).

Literally the game has maintained VR14/CP300 as the min cap and it is way past time these dungeons grew. This is why we have these silly insta-kill mechanics because instead of letting the CP growth determine the dungeon level Zen just makes the dungeon more difficult by making the mechanics more punishing.

They should be scaled to the players real power at these higher CP levels, this would allow everyone to experience growth and give high CP a real purpose. We are literally still playing VR 14 and it is beginning to challenge the game as seen in all these threads about insta-kill mechanics and CP complaints.

it just seems power creep is one of the biggest issues in mmo's... so why not change the system

Before CP dungeons scaled to VR (of the group leader, I suppose). It was not perfect, but when switching to CP, ZOS could've adapted the scaling to group's CP; for example scale to median or the first quartile. Instead, they've thrown the scaling away. Why? What would happen if the dungeons got tougher as you gained CP? All vertical progression addicts would stop feeling their character account grows in power, complain and/or quit.

Considering how harmful CP system has been to the game, I would have no problem with saying "f..off" to it, even though I have close to 2k cp myself. I'd rather have fun and balanced game, than some half baked crutches and an endless wave of nerfs that keep making game less and less fun.

If they would just let the content scale to CP bands and rebalanced CP to compensate for some of the synergistic effects that were not anticipated many issues would be mostly resolved.

I would like to see zones introduced with min CP requirements when new content is introduced. One Tamerial has run its course and imo is holding the game back.

I like the ideas regarding the inventory mini game. I don't mind the CP system at all, in fact I like how alt-friendly it is. But I would like to see more inventory management options, the storage chests and trunks were a good start, more please.
