Healing problems.

mark.markandb16_ESO
Hi, I was hoping that someone could offer some insite int PvE group healing. The problem I have found is that when a tank runs into a group of mobs it is impossible to target him to use a single target heal. This in turn leads to spamming group heals and running out of magika. Another problem I have is actually identifying who is who when faced with 3 melee all dressed in shiny armour, beating on the mob.

Any enlightenment gratefully received.

I ran into this problem when grouping in a dungeon. (Well not the magicka problem cause using a restoration staff its heavy attack recovers some magicka.) But I couldn't tell who was who as they where random group. So there health was going down and I was like who is dying? :P But What I did was stood behind them all and used my healing ability that heals anyone in front of me. I mostly focused on the tank tho and made sure he was healed as I could tell who he was in our group.

All I've found are AE or mutliple target heals. Its a lot different then other games, all the soft targeting would make it really hard to do single target i think, unless they made some changes to the UI

The tank should not be running into huge groups and trying to hold all the aggro in this game. Its just not setup that way.

    This.

Also, single-target healing is not strong enough in this game to reliably keep a tank up on its own. The tank (and in fact, everyone!) needs to be attentive and partially responsible for their own hp. Defensive skills, self-heals, stacking your own group heals with the healer's... all these are important, even if your healer is exceptionally good. It's just the way the game is built.

Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."

Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."

Yea in the group the tank and nightblade went in to attack things. Tank focused on the tougher guys. Then there was a ranged. Tho my problem with the range in that dungeon was that person would always stand behind me. So when i saw health going down id have to search for the person. :P If everyone is standing in front of me or I have them in my view angle its np as then I can see the health bar over there head. Either way I had no problem keeping people up. It was just the constant D/C I had which made it horrible :P haha

Help from former full-time Beta players have had in every single post I've read that is related to anything about group mechanics - players MUST learn early on to:
    -
    • use their block, interrupts, dodge/roll and synergy with other player skills
-- additionally, every player benefits greatly from some sort of skill that has health regen on their bar AND having a potion or two at the ready.

Grouping successfully in ESO starting at around 30+ will need to have players having practiced these suggestions in earlier levels and have some of these tips already formed as a habit.

This is not yer grandpa's mmo grouping set up. It can be a blast, but its DIFFERENT.

Props to any suggestions for the o-p and all of us who want to primarily heal in groups.

I'm going to agree with most of the posts in this thread. Other group members have a responsibility to do as much as possible to keep themselves alive. Even if you have a very reactionary and competent healer there will be times that the HoTs and AOEs wont save a group who stood in the giant growing red circle...

I have been a healer in several groups now and I can say this about that: If your party members insist on dieing there is nothing you can do stop it. I even tell people that if they can't contribute to the healing we will wipe more than once in the dungeons. I also tell them "If you have to run, run toward me." I have wiped at least twice in every dungeon I have been in.

On a more positive note I have found that healing early with an AoE HoT, followed by soft target heals and prot is easier to maintain than lots of huge AoE. At least for my restoration staff sorcerer.

I think it really depends on your teammates actions during a fight.

They need to stand out of the enemy abilities (red circles/lines), they need to use their block at the right time (yellow sparkles) and they need to interrupt enemy spells (red sparkles).

They also need to run with at least 1 CC (stun or knock down) on their bar in order to reduce damage done to the group and to themselves.

I suggest you also run with a CC spell on your bar, I don't know what your build is but 5 healing spells is useless in this game as you'll most likely run out of magicka before using them all. Balance your build around magicka and stamina; healing spells and CC (or dps if you don't need CC in case you're outleveling/outgearing the content).
