I think that toxic folks are the ones who are rude to others in the game - and that can happen in any of the groups you listed. Still, just because some folks in a group are bad doesn’t mean judge the whole group.

There are toxic people everywhere as with any mmo, elitists and trolls etc.

But this post is bait, and is clearly going to cause arguments with its divisiveness, and I think you know that.

Absolutely awful premise for a poll - all you're doing is promulgating division. Shame on you.

I can only remember one instance of toxicity in my 2 years of playing. It wasn't even that bad. A group of low level, low DPS complained that I wasn't a good DPS after I carried them through vDCII. They died to trash mobs a few times because the other DPS (their friend) wasn't doing any damage and expected me to clear everything instantly.

I read the only post by another player on your page. As of now (unless you delete it), it reads: "Lifeonerth → Sylvermynx
Thank you so much for your very kind and thoughtful post on my letter about Bosmer changes! I don’t use forums much because the web is so toxic and it makes me despair for humanity, but people like you give me hope again. Your post was much needed"

    So, two points in response:
    1) You're blaming the person asking a question neutrally and without being toxic / abusive, and
    2) Your only contribution so far was to berate me.

*shrug* What that person posted on my page (which I don't really use) has NOTHING to do with your poll. As for berating you.... I stand by my statement. You are promoting divisiveness by the poll itself. As such, it IS toxic in and of itself. Your question wasn't neutral. At all.

As for my contribution - it's an open poll. YOU are berating me for offering my opinion.

You joined in February 2014. You're saying that out of all of the players you've met in the past 5 years in all of the different milieu of ESO, the person who's been playing for less than a year and has committed no offense yet is the most toxic.

I find your reasoning spurious and without due merit.

Anyone can be toxic at any time. I am generally laid back and helpful, but I can be suddenly toxic when someone does something I deem questionable. However, this type of poll is mildly toxic. It is finger pointing at groups.

So you looking through peoples pages just to bash them for no reason but for your sick pleasure and making a biased poll with baiting isn’t toxic? Whatever man.

I disagree. Standard online toxicity definition as follows: "Toxicity, or toxic behavior, can be defined as actions that create a bad atmosphere for the other players in a game. This could be things such as friendly-fire, or verbal abuse. If you've played any competitive team based game you've probably experienced this behavior in one way or another."

Questioning (as opposed to creating) bad behavior is not, in of itself, toxic. Inaccurately and harshly accusing others of toxicity, however, probably falls closer than further to the definition.

    Everybody sucks
Elitists are usually fine and cool.

Now the ones i hate are those who THINK they know what they are doing when they don't. And they wouldn't even listen. And keep saying "we know mechanics" when they keep ignoring them and dying. And blaming others for their deaths.

^now they are making me toxic. Had to run vSCP few times with guildies to wash the bad taste in my mouth.

Exposing a problem, like a cancer or corruption, requires addressing it before treatment. Asking the question in order to create solutions is more helpful than harmful. All depends on how you read the question; immediate answers / responses so far are very telling indeed.

This post was in response to observing verbal abuse in an area of Tamriel I don't want to specify and sticking up for the person being abused. It's interesting how people jump directly to accusations of baiting / toxicity instead of asking before drawing conclusions.

For the record, I prefer discussion to argumentation.

One person's interpretation of 'toxic' can be very different to another person's. I have never seen behaviour in ESO I would describe as toxic.

Agreed. Some people on the forums can go a bit overboard & I see way more 'baiting' on the forums than in-game.

Did you read the Zenimax Terms of Service? I did. Every word. Section 8 states: "Harass, stalk, threaten, embarrass, spam or do anything else to another user of any Services that is unwanted, such as repeatedly sending unwanted messages or making personal attacks or statements about race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc." www.zenimax.com/legal_terms_us

Are you telling me you've never experienced this in zone chat?
