ESO on steam-58.1 Gig update and saying I don't have ESO+. What gives???

So I just logged in to see that Steam has a 58.1gig update for ESO, but I'm still able to login and play. The problem now is that it says I don't have ESO+ , but I do have ESO+. I can travel to all of the DLC zones, but my Craft bag is locked and my bank space has been reduced. What gives? Something just isn't adding up :/

Next time there's a sale, buy ESO from the store, and dump steam?

    Steam sucks.

I had purchased ESO many moons ago from the official site which lead me to many more problems. So I purchased it again from steam and haven't had many problems. This is one of the first as of late and it's quite the doozy.

Well, if you have a real purchase, you should be able to log in through the eso64.exe?

Wait, didn't Support just get you unstuck? Could they have accidentally hit the wrong button somewhere? Wondering if you can re-open or amend your ticket...

LOL. Yes they fixed my stuck problem and now I have an ESO+ problem. I messaged support, but no response as of yet. I posted here to see if other steam users may have this same issue :)

Ok. I logged in from the ESO64 file and everything is back to normal. It shows that I have ESO+ active (which it has been for like a solid year) and everything is working. That's weird :/

Well.... sometimes steam just sucks. In fact, it sucked so often for me that I finally re-bought the game from ESO store a month after starting, and have had no issues since.

I HATE STEAM. Only reason it still gets room on my drive is Skyrim. And the sooner Beth decides to dump steam, the happier I will be.

Everything's working on my end-- no updates.

Maybe if you start/restart Steam? Reboot your PC? Or, to quote the IT Crowd, "Have you turned it on and off again?" No clue :D

Anyway, I'm glad things are working when you log in from the file :)

That said, Steam's been fine for me aside from that one glitch last year that got everyone free crates. I haven't had any issues with most Steam games. Maybe I'm just lucky ;)

I also just had Steam attempting to re-download my entire ESO, which will take several days at my 'net speed. Will investigate further in the morning and write a help ticket. The executable file workaround doesn't work for me. Not cool.

Jikama I had a weird little update too today. And when I went in game my mail was gone but it eventually loaded just took a long while.

There's a good chance it's Steam being Steam. A bunch of other games are now wanting to reinstall. Trying verifying the cache and restarting.

Done that bolded part now three times. It's wanting to reinstall everything. :P So that doesn't work. Only thing there is to do is wait patiently until things 'fix' themselves.

Edit: I should probably already note that it started installing on my end, to which I'm just going to reinstall anyways. It's not like the lag in Cyrodiil is going to go anywhere.

PS 58.1gig sounds awfully close to the amount of space steam needs to verify game files.

This is correct. If you're getting that update guys, just verify the game files, run the launcher, and you should be set. Note: Don't update it. Go to the listing in your library, go through it's properties, and THEN verify. Just to be on the safe side. Now as for me? Time to re-download the game. Maybe this is why Cyrodiil has so much lag.

Edit: Also if that doesn't work, theeeeeeeeeen I have no idea. But that's what I've gotten from my few other games that had the same issue.

This just happened to me. I ended up uninstalling it because it was installed twice for some reason and was taking up 98% of my hd space.

Now I’m reinstalling from scratch from eso website. SIGH I should have checked the forum. I thought it was just me.

There's something wrong on your ends guys. I've had a huge list that required updates when I launched Steam this morning. It took all of 30 seconds as nothing was actually downloaded. Little strange that all your files try to download / re-install games.

"Most of these updates are just shared redistributable updates and not real game updates. The end result should be that you need to download less content going forward.
You should see only a few real downloads of any size and the remainder should be size 0 updates. This is not communicated well in the client and will be looked at." Valve on reddit

Damn. My wife and I got this problem as well and since we can only login through steam, we're effed to re-install. This is definitely Steam because all my games "updated" as well. The difference is that the other games have very small update size while ESO have 56.1gb.

Just curious. Have you installed addons? Were the addons inside your ESO folder or in some other folder?

I've got AUI and MM in the normal add on folder for ESO. Question back; as I'm on EU, could it be you're all on NA server?

Same with me. I sometimes switch from NA to EU because I have toons there as well. I think this is just Steam screwing up their updates.

I’m really starting to hate this game. I can’t go a week without something like this happening. I’m getting a refund for Elsweyr because probably won’t play this much longer.

    Now I got THIS problem.

I have this problem now too - several of my steam games inc ESO require updates - was able to verify local files on some but I can't verify the ESO game files as the option is greyed out in steam.

    I don't know what do :(

My only option seems to be to download the 'update' - which will take 7 hours :/

I had this happen to three other games: Otherland, Divinity: Original Sin and, I think, Pillars of Eternity. I just hit the download button, and most of the "updates" took one second with no data downloaded. Nothing so far with ESO... Anyway, they seem to be fine if you just ok the download. Only Otherland downloaded a 55 Kb file.

I remember Steam did something like this a few years ago. Took a little bit to resolve-- I think I had to verify my installed games then-- but after that it was smooth sailing until now.

I'd just download it. That's what I did with my other games. They're working fine.

Anyway, in general, Steam's been a smoother experience than the other online gaming services. I've had more issues with Origin and GOG. GOG is the worst-- slow download speeds, constant updates, and at random it decides to have you do those stupid picture RECAPTCHA things.

I just checked my steam Zenimax folder on my game drive and it says it is 22GB which doesn't seem right given what size a google search says it should be.

Hopefully after waiting 7 hours this 'update' will fix it but I wish I knew just what happened to cause this problem as it's certainly one I don't wish to experience a repeat of.
