New crafting mechanic - “Reforged”

As you know, there is so many gear sets are limited their potential due to their armor type.
And there is so many bad lucky people struggled by rng.

My suggestion is importing new mechanic into the game - “Reforged”. This would allow people to transfer one armor type to another.

For example, a character with metal forging master and cloth weaving master, one can get a passive called “Armory Reforging”. It allows him to reforged armor from light to heavy/ heavy to light etc.

This improves the attractiveness of crafting and giving more beneficial gain through investing crafting skill lines.

I think “Reforged” can be limited by its respective token, just like Transmutation.

This can provide more diversity toward each set and build.

Of cause this is the simple version of it.

If the system can convert one resources to another, which would be great. For example, if you “Reforged” a medium armor piece to light armor, system would ask you “do you want to convert the set bonus to it’s related armor?”

This is the example:

Shadow of the Red Mountain

Original bouns (Medium)

(2 items) Adds 129 Weapon Damage
(3 items) Adds 1096 Max Stamina
(4 items) Adds 833 Weapon Critical
(5 items) When you deal damage with a Weapon ability, you have a 10% chance to spawn a volcano that erupts after 1 second and fires a projectile at the nearest enemy that deals 8400 Flame Damage. This effect can occur once every 2 seconds.

Reforged bouns (Light)

(2 items) Adds 129 Spell Damage
(3 items) Adds 1096 Max Magicka
(4 items) Adds 833 Spell Critical
(5 items) When you deal damage with a Weapon ability, you have a 10% chance to spawn a volcano that erupts after 1 second and fires a projectile at the nearest enemy that deals 8400 Flame Damage. This effect can occur once every 2 seconds.

I think this is a good move to save the so call useless set in the game.

What do you think?

    Why stop there?

How about being able to change 2, 3, and 4 piece bonuses? What if I like my light armor but I want it to have more Regen? I can “reforge” cloth and make up my own bonuses.

Why not just make all the set bonuses 5 piece bonuses? I want to have my bone pirate give me 8k stamina and 600 regen.

Like the way you think, but most people will exploit it by reforging everything to damage or some sort.

    Troll post confirmed.

This idea has some potential ... but it would be a nightmare for ZOS to review each and every set (in another weight) for purposes of balance.

So true! That is why I only focused on resources and damage type. It could be easier for them?

    Could be? For sure.

It's an idea worth looking at ... especially for crafters who are looking for other ways to promote themselves.

That would be a cool idea, at least for sets that only drop in 1 weight.
