This is the annoying thing. We all know and accept that there'll be problems from time to time but keeping us in the dark, like mushrooms, is not acceptable. 9 hours of downtime (projected, remember, could be even more!) is getting a bit ridiculous.
Do you wonder why the EU server maintenance takes longer than the US server maintenance?
It is simple, really. Don't tell me you haven't noticed the awful lag lately. The EU server maintenance is apparently suffering from a lag spike.

Plus, who in the US would be working on it at 04:00 EST??
Also, is it not unusual to take off both the live servers and the PTS on the same day?
Methinks its a case of automated offline and then being left sitting there while the ZOS finish the Live patch.
We need to do some database work every week for PTS, so the maintenances are going to take a little longer than usual. Has nothing to do with the patch size or amount of fixes. That said, we still have a number of hours to go, so expect PTS to be back up in roughly 6 hours from now.

Looks like PTS is more important that a simple message about the state of the EU server.
Literally all any of us need is a simple statement on what’s occurring. Even if it’s a message of simple reassurance.
