Name something this game has done to make you a better person or helped you in some way with a real life situation. Anything at all. I would love to hear about it.

It's a game. It's not supposed to have any. It's main purpose is to entertain people, and to let them spend their free time in the game and buy things from crown store.

Killing fictional creatures is superior to some alternatives.

The quests of the game have incredible principles taught in them, principles that make you stop and ponder on actually what just happened, if you let it. Spamming dialogue won't get you there.

Without a private in my unit as dependable as The Elder Scrolls Online watching my back out there, I probably would've lost BOTH my arms back in 'Nam.

I've met some great people in game. One was a youth minister who said a prayer through guild chat for me and my family when my wife and I thought we had lost our fourth baby to miscarriage.

Turns out the baby was still alive. That was 2 years ago now and my son is everything to me.

Its not the game itself, it's what you make of it. The time you spend and the connections you can make have a value beyond the button mashing and trash talking.

The biggest impact would be that I met my girlfriend through ESO, also a number of friends I now play other games with.

It also helped me through some darker times in my life where I was really struggling with depression and anxiety and needed an escape from the real world.

I also learned some more lessons on leadership and how to deal with toxicity in gaming groups.

I'd say I am a better person from my time playing the game.

I've learned or applied some management skills in-game that I've come to use IRL. And I've made mistakes in management and leadership in-game that I've learned from, without having to make those mistakes in a more serious context.

Can't claim to have actually met mine in ESO, because we were already friends online, but the time we spent playing and regularly talking over voice comms brought us closer to the point where we realised that we wanted to be more than just friends. :)

It let's you see the species as it is. For instance there's a questline where an high elf and see elf are in love.

Then you realize the reasons to why they can't be together are dumb. Cultures are insignificant as it is and High Elves are sanctimonious donkeyhats.

Name any game that comes with a property of making you a better person or helps in some way in real life situations. Actually, games tend to exaggerate your own personality - so if you're an *** in real life, you'll probably be an even bigger *** in the game.

So what I have we learned here? We have learned that games are not designed, typically, to improve your morality, your sex appeal, your personal hygiene or your social standing. Shall we move on now ?

I live in England and it’s winter and the weather is quite ‘shet’ - I find at least the sunny shore of summerset (among other places) lifts my funky weather related mood.
