Is fishing still useful?

Been away from the game for a while and came back yesterday to have a bit of a look around the game. One thing I did wonder is how useful fishing is now. Are there still any interesting or useful things you can get from fishing?

Depends on what you need. Every zone, including DLC ones, have achievements for fishing up all 12 green and blue rarity fish. White rarity fish can be filleted for a minute chance of getting some Perfect Roe, the only way to get this ingredient in game which still sells for a lot. Then there are some unique aquatic furnishings you can only get by fishing like corals, seashells and kelp.

OK, thanks (: So you can actually fish up furnishings? Can you also fish up patterns, or just the items?

Immersively, you can real in pre-taxidermed and mounted fish!! Just like in real life!!

Seriously, the same people who hide their single TA rune in a gunny sack are the ones responsible for also throwing out their useless Epic-level mounted Bass.

If you like wasting your ESOPlus subscription, fishing can help with that.
A lot of time invested with little in the way of progress.

Just another entitled whinge for a whale that wasted too much money.

Depends where you fish. In summerset you can get motifs and food recipes. But with necromancer being released it might be worth fishing and selling perfect rowe for xp potions.

When? Been playing since TU and fishing was always something very, erm... Poor. 15k worth in one hour? 120-130 fishes. Not even 15k... While mat farming will turn, from day 1 in game, at least 25k hour if you have no clue what you're doing. Scalable up to 60k with CP master gatherer, and close to 80k or even 100k, if you have the right speed gear/build, and go farm in crag. Fishing is not scalable at all ever.

So no... Fishing isn't and never was worth it in itself, unless for a very chill money farming, while you watch TV series or chat with guild mates. Than yes, it's worth it.

If only farming nodes was still that lucrative. 80-100k per hour is a distant memory now thanks to botting ruining the market.

But yeah, I agree that fishing is an extremely ineffective use of your time.

Of course. If you need to kill some time in game, fishing is a good way to do it. Tangible rewards are made available through the fishing feature.

Ugh. Nope. Not fishing here. I got burnt out in WoW and RIFT, fishing. Lordy, they'd have to give me a major house pimped to the max if I got something major out of fishing for me to even consider it.

And.... even then... it's the most boring use of time in game. IN ANY GAME. Nope. Never going there.

This. Fishing in Summerset is the most worthwhile.

Otherwise the Master Angler title gets you a sailboat furnishing.

As stated, Perfect Roe has been farmed to death. I wouldn’t fish just for that anymore especially since we get tons of xp scrolls for log in rewards and level up rewards. I wonder if they’ll make it mandatory for future furnishing or something else but as it is, Perfect Roe is barely worth it now.

A bind on pickup recipe fished up relatively easy in Artaeum, but you CAN sell the crafted food
    p9ef28bhwtqk.png

There is also a purple health/magicka recipe with fishing benefits but I still use Witchmothers potent brew instead. Though the gold Clockwork Citrus Fillet requires perfect roe to craft and is a pretty damn good magicka food.

If learning crafting recipes isn't you thing you can also fish up the Pyandonean bottles in Summerset that contain the style motif, or misc crafting ingredients, or you can just flat out sell the bottles on traders.
