Does anyone else find a big city where you know the zone chat will be interesting...

Artaeum was silly last night. Alinor was bizarre too with the giant wolf party.

I do see funny stuff sometimes but most of the time it's someone selling ww or vamp bites and someone else shaming the seller and the seller retorting if someone is willing to pay then so what and then someone saying they'll do it for free and the back and forth goes on for like 20 minutes.

I know I generally stay away from Daggerfall in the evenings on PC. It's like WoW's Barrens chat all over again. Some of the most childish crap I've ever heard.

Absolutely not. I have guilds and mute tabs in my chat to preserve my sanity.

I pop in to Khenarthi's Roost semi-regularly, and help newbies out with gear or by answering questions. Usually, there is a decently active chat that seems to pit people like me against the aggressive farmer/trolls that also like to visit. Mostly it's tame and helpful, but other times it's like Barrens chat.

It is a rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly obvious. The cry 'I could have thought of that' is a very popular and misleading one, for the fact is that they didn't, and a very significant and revealing fact it is too. - Douglas Adams

Lol, only if I'm feeling masochistic. Seriously though, if I have the right mindset and I know exactly what I am going to subject myself to, it can get quite entertaining. For me, the best/worst zones for this activity are Alik'r, all three Faction capitals, and Cyrodiil. It is a giant smorgasbord of hot, spicy excrement and I can gorge myself. That is, until I start questioning my own humanity and then turn off zone chat pronto.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'll agree that sometimes people can be really mean to each other or get into very stupid arguments. I was actually in Vukhel Guard and then Riften last night when I made this post, ha! Anyway, overall it's fairly amusing. :D

And @Zathras I think it's cool that you help newbies out. I go to Khenarthi's Roost sometimes too and just hand out lockpicks, soul gems, and gold. Someone did that for me when I was first starting out, and I was so thankful.

Thanks. I tend to make new characters fairly often. Oddball ones, mostly, that reflect whatever mood I'm in at that time. I keep a couple character slots just for disposable toons. At any rate, while I am gathering gear for myself I also collect full sets of magicka and stamina (including weapons and jewelry), and donate it to people in zone through mail. Random acts of kindness can go a long way to someone new to the game.
