I have magplar that i use for dps world content not dungeons or trials, he is my RPG character essentially. I use him to play all the story content. I dont like staves so i use weapons. My question is what sets would the community reccomend to me for maximizing my damage output. I currently run julianos, spinner, and skoria. Im looking for suggestions, if it helps i use class abilities and mage guild abilities only for this character

Well using DW on your Julianos set up is going to be as effective as it will be.

Swords will increase your damage % wise.

It's just the sustain / range handicap that makes it unfavorable for vet content.

You might want to swap Spinner's for something that will provide you with more sustain.

You are never going to have an ideal setup if you run magic skills with no staffs. If you really like weapons, you should play a stamplar, but of course, this is coming from someone that typically tries to min max. Dual Swords on a magplar hasnt been meta for ages. You could certainly find a middle ground and back bar a staff and front bar DW swords, and run a pretty traditional magplar DPS rotation, but you are going to leave a lot of damage on the table.

If you are content with the DPS loss for RP reasons, what you currently have is pretty darn good, especially if you are in a less than optimal raid group. If you are unhappy with your damage output currently, swapping your gear (unless it is a full revamp to stam gear) is not going to make much difference.

Meta gear is spell strat (requires light attacks to proc, much harder to do effectively with DW) and Siroria (trial set that requires good positioning, again, harder in melee). Truthfully, I dont think making those changes would help much. You could also try for Zaan over Skoria, but that is not going to be a huge difference. Skoria is frankly the better option for most people not standing in a perfect stacked raid.

Yeah, even on a stam morph, a lot of class abilities are still overtly magical, visually anyway. So, you're probably better off just switching over to a stamplar.

This is an absolutely great setup for story mode only. You have done a great job finding gear. I would even say this would be optimal in PvP, if you should decide to ever venture in there. Like the others said, not using a staff is causing you a hefty dmg and sustain loss, but if you can make it work for you, more power to you. To help counter that sustain loss (sustain is king!) I would suggest swapping out your Spinners for Bright Throat's Boast or Lich. You can hit as hard as you want, but trying to hit something with no resource pool is going to be a zero value, especially considering our Templar execute is dependent on having a full mag pool for optimum dmg output.

My RP magplar I use two handed on my front bar bc I like the look of having the sword on your back. You get the same damage % buff as dual wield but you miss out on the second enchantment. I run Destro on back bar. I use Julinos , lich, and skoria. With this build I have been able to solo all the world bosses and most dungeons that are soloable. For bosses that I need a little more defense I switch out great sword for sword and board.

But when I join for dungeon and trials I switch my whole gear out to double destro and different sets for MAX stats. I use an add-on that allows you to easily switch out armor sets.

DW magplar is viable for 99% of the content in the game including some of the vet trials. Your setup seems pretty strong--probably too strong for overland questing tbh lol.

Yeah, sustain on a Templar is definitely a factor.

While I don't have a character precisely like what you are doing here, I do run a dunmer ashlander who is a magicka character and does not use staves. As such, I feel somewhat familiar with the challenges you are facing. I'm not trying to maximize damage output, but I do have a suggestion.

You might think about Innate Axiom (crafted set) if you are mainly using class abilities. I run that on my character, as it specifically boosts spell/weapon damage for class abilities to a greater magnitude than Julianos. You will loose a bit of spell crit in exchange for stamina, which I've found helpful for breaking crowd control and supporting his tank/dd dungeon role better.

if you don't plan on using your weapons - double one hand and shield will help boost your resources and provide extra resistance...

as a bonus, there's a couple of nice defensive weapon abilities in the skill line that you may be able to utilize...

I won't pretend to know numbers but you could try the following from what I've read and see what works for you

    Inate axiom
    Soul shine
    Bright throats
    Overwhelming surge
    Mother's sorrow
    Spell strategist
Mix them with what you have , mix them together as new builds ... The beauty of your situation is you have far more freedom then the min/max brigade and that means it's all about what you enjoy for you not what your forced to enjoy for the sake of perfection
