Help with viable Magicka Classless DPS character

So as the title suggests, I'm working on a build that doesn't rely on any class skills but can still be viable in veteran trial content. (PFF HAHAHAHAAH OKAY SURE BUDDY) is what most of you just thought I'm guessing. BUT I was able to do vMA on it so far and get flawless, here is a video of my first attempt:

Right now my goal is to try and eliminate the need for a restoration staff, I just can't figure out a good enough heal for vMA besides using the staff. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to improve? I'm currently using a vMA restoration staff and vMA lightning staff paired with Zaans, 3 Pieces of Moondancer, and Mother's sorrow. Skills are as shown in video. Thanks in advance!

    Might want to give Degeneration a look if you're looking for some passive heals. It's a Mages Guild skill that gives you Major Sorcery and make light attacks have a chance to heal you for a decent amount.

    Maybe rearming trap or even acceleration for minor force would be handy. Also you could use elemental weapon as spammable, probably give you a little more.
    What gear are you wearing? Sorry if that was in the video, can't watch right now.

    Consuming Trap is an option - 7% max health/stam/mag if an affected enemy dies. Another option if you're a vampire is Drain Essence which is also a heal and Mist Form which is damage mit

    Energy orbs and blood altar are good heals as well.

    I made up a classes dps once, looked like this-

    Front bar fire staff

    Inner light, degeneration (entropy), elemental ring, clench, force pulse, ulti meteor

    Back bar lighting or fire

    Inner light, eledrain(maybe consuming trap), harness magic, scalding rune, wall of elements, ulti elemental rage.

    This is back when harness was not capped by health though. But in group content, that ought to be fine. This will get you plenty of dps.

    Just a theorycraft idea:

    5 Spider Cultist
    5 Permafrost
    2 Ice Heart

    It's not sexy and won't do as much damage, but this might allow you to drop the resto staff (with the condition that you build for mundus health recovery and health recovery exists in your drink buff). You'll have two shields (Iceheart and LA shield) up a lot, and a good deal of health coming back every 2 seconds. Spider Cultist should offer enough punch for when you need to burn with the destro ultimate.

    You could also enchant on of your weapons with absorb health, like 1.2k health every 2 seconds, seems nice.

    Yeah I thought about the vampire skill line, but the skills seem a little too clunky for vMA. especially drain essence. I feel like you'd have to kinda spam that and it doesn't do a ton of damage. idk. I will play around with consuming trap though and let you know how it goes. Thanks!

    Now this I will definitely give a try, possibly paired with @Lightspeedflashb14_ESO 's skill setup. When I have some time I'll do another vMA run with this and let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for the ideas so far!

    pretty sure degeneration only gives heals on the mob if you light attack the mob that you casted it on, though i haven't used the skill in a while. still worth trying.

    any damage set, julianos, mothers sorrow, BSW, if using double fire staffs, which i would be, and this set-

    i would also get rid of zaan, most mobs die so fast in vma, you want some aoe, on something that procs way more, grothdarr or valkyn.
