Normal PVE enemies dont get off-balance when i block their heavy attacks?!?

Is this a bug? I do hope it is, since that one mechanism has been one lovely part of ESO combat that i love. Enemies do react to stuff like that unlike in WOW for examp0le, where they just feel zombies without any impact effects.

In general they do. Any mobs in specific you noticed this on?

Any normal open world PVE human enemy for example. Just visiting Bleakrock and noticed this. They do not get all "birds rounding their head" so to say, when block their heavy axe swing for example.

In general, only bosses and certain elite enemies (e.g. daedroths, harvesters, quite a few others) are immune to CC effects. The "off balance" effect is supposed to apply to bosses too though (I think), but the visual effects do not display.

If you are seeing this for normal human/mob enemies, the most likely reason is a bug or glitch. It could well be a temporary issue that might be resolved by rezoning or relogging. It's worth testing how consistent it is, i.e. if it's specific to that zone or happens everywhere, and also whether it only happens for that one character or on all your other toons too.

Isn't there a cooldown for disabling effects? You can't permastun mobs in ESO.

Relogs and reload do not help. The enemies, basic ones still dont get all stunned when a heavy attack is blocked as they used to be. At times, the swirling animation over their head is shown very briefly and they almost get the posture of being dazed/off-balance/stunned whatever. They just carry on the fight like nothing has happened.

I do know there is a cooldown which used to be very brief, but that was not shared with all the CC effects i think and i think the block thingy was not on the cooldown list with others, bot sure, but they used to get dizzy every time i blocked their attack. Different from for example if i hit dizzyinbg swing (Or something like that) they just get knocked back once every three seconds.

Just tried this again by engaging an basic human enemy in Bleakrock. I did no CC or even hit the enemy at all, when the enemy was swinging for heavy attack, i blocked and nothing happened. Tried it multiple times in the same way, but only reaction was very brief knockback which did not even happen all the time.

I've been having this happen for a while myself. No normal (ie not boss) mobs seem to get off-balance when I interrupt their heavy attacks. I've noticed one mob that does, and that's Lady Llarel (Lady Llarel's Shelter in Deshaan). She (it? lol) does get interrupted and stuff, but trash mobs shrug it off and keep a-comin'.

So it isn't just me. *scratches head* I thought either my memory was bad and the enemies never really had been stunned or that in my ongoing battle with the flu, I'd forgotten how to block :D

Actually, I'm feeling kind of relieved ;)

They get disoriented if interrupted with crunching shock or similar.
The 2H guys get disoriented if you block their HA.
Not sure if this applies to all normal enemies

Oh I thought my memory was just shoddy. Noticed the same thing this week. I don't usually care but I'm leveling a new char atm and I make sure to take advantage of this effect to help the weakling in the fight. When it wasn't happening, I thought I was doing something wrong. I'll double check tonight.

I seem to be getting to the full table on this matter. In majority, they dont seem to get any reaction from either block or interrupt. Very rarely the be knocked back for a fraction of a second or get a brief swirl over their head, but they always just keep coming.

I have been loving to get advantage of this in every time i played. First block them to confusion, then hit them back with HA and put them down for a moment. No longer happening. Sad :(

I'll try and pay attention to it. Regular mobs usually die so fast that it would be easy to miss.

I was using the morph of Poison Arrow that hecks up casting enemies, hehe. I can't remember the name of it. But I was getting my interrupts confused with blocking heavy attacks.

This is what I'm experiencing to a 't'. I grind experience along the coast near Wayrest where all those Midnight Union mobs are, because they respawn hella quick and it's usually pretty quiet (there's also enough of them to go around so even if a few people are grinding there, you're all usually spread out far enough that you aren't leeching one another's exp). The 2H users REALLY like their Wrecking Blow and their HA and when I block those, they'll get a swirl over their heads for perhaps a second, if that, but they'll still be mobile and attacking when when that swirl is present.

Perhaps it's time to take this to the Bugs section?

Venom Arrow, did not know it was an int interrupt, interesting.
Note that all enemies will not show an off balance animation, but humanoids should do.
Some abilities will knock enemies over or knock them back, this will not work on bosses so are mostly seen as PvP skills, nice to knock someone off an keep wall, if not at full health the damage+ fall damage can easy kill you

It appears you're right. Tried a couple of mobs while doing Murkmire dailes. Blackguard Thug, base argonian mob, blocked a couple of heavy attacks, stumbled back a bit but no off-balance messages. I do get the target is immune message.

I noticed this changing sometime during 2018. Early in the year I got off balance from blocking heavies, which was nice when trying to solo resources in Cyrodiil as a low level. Now I can only reliably get off balance from interrupting a cast time ability, or more specialized sources (concussed+lightning blockade or stunned /immobilized + flame lash).

I always took it as when you are high enough level they can break CC (and other effects) the same way you can.

Venom Arrow, that's it. Yeah it's handy on my Redguard Stamsorc girl, I mostly started using it in PvP during Midyear but now I'm too lazy to change it to the other morph for PvE, which is what I usually do, but I'm cool with keeping it since having a ranged interrupt is nice.

I've also got a li'l video to highlight the problem of blocking a heavy attack and bashing to interrupt not having any real affect on the enemy, but the enemy still gets the CC immunity. It has to be some sorta weird bug. I'm gonna post the video in the Bug section as well.

Link since I still can't figure out how to put a preview thinger for videos directly into a post
