I used to be against an account wide achievement system but now that the game is nearly five years old it is unrealistic to expect someone to create an alt now and have it ever eclipse or overtake their other characters in achievements. Basically it makes me never want to make an alt because, looking at the Achievements page, they look pathetic in comparison. I think the time has come to either introduce an account wide Achievement system. Players should be able to view their character-only achievements to see their progress on things like quests, etc. Without an account wide system though it feels like all newer characters are throwaway (especially with how easy it is to level now) and I quickly lose interest in playing. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
EDIT: and as it was proposed many times I will write it in tl;dr - it could be toggable option so you will lost nothing as you would not toggle it whiel many other payers will finally play any character other than their single maxing char - main

As someone who pre-ordered the game and put thousands and thousands of hours on *just* my main, whom I already rerolled from a dk to a magblade to a magsorc, who was really supposed to be a necromancer the whole time (roleplay-wise), rerolling him again would feel like years of my life wasted.
I saw many people in other threats arguing that achievments like non-death-speed-run-hm-trials should only be on the character which achieved it and I can understand it a little bit.
Personally, I think the concept of global achievements should just be a simple toggle switch. If you don’t want that, keep it switched off. If you don’t want to repeat content, switch it on!

Having immeadiate access to skyshard skill points and skill lines already levelled would give vet players an unfair advantage over new players. Biggest example would be in under 50 pvp.
Separate issue: can you imagine the pug griefing? "Oh you don't have undaunted/mages/fighters guild auto-enabled? You're playing the game as designed? See ya scrub."

I cant believe this is even up for debate in 2018.
Players do Achievements, not characters. There is literally no reason for an Achievement to be characterbased.

It is also extremely unfair towards players who completed achievements on multiple characters to just join them together and make them accountwide.

I guess the tables have turned then, since it's 2019 now.
Players do Achievements, not characters, yes. But the characters are very different from each other and that influences the value of an achievement heavily. Why this? No one takes the effort they invested away. Would be same as the constant hunt for better gear. Would be unfair for those who took so long to gather the perfect gear and then, with a new expansion, their effort ist for nothing.

An account wide summary would be fine. Achievements, beyond the basics, should remain character specific.
As the game grows and more and more progression is required to meet the "minimum", I am less and less interested in playing other characters.
I get grand ideas that renew my zeal for playing, but then I realise after I play my character through to level 50 there are still skill levelling, skyshards, skill points, horse training, bag space, psijic line, ledgermain, fighters guild, mages guild and undaunted. And that's just the minimum.
And zos wants me to buy outfit slots on all my characters when I don't have dyes on them....

I dont like to be penalized because I chose to do some content on different alts.
Justice, thieves, blackhand on my stamblade
Wrothgar on my stamdk
Morrowind with my warden
Murkmire with my argonian.
I also hate that achievments are also locked in motifs. Sorry, my crafter learns the motifs, not the toon doing the content

Just play the game and have fun? Not sure why people worry about achievements on other characters when they probably don't have them all on one anyhow.
