    *sigh* "Guards"....

Why on NIRN are you trying to kill them in the first place? I don't hate them, in fact I have never interacted with them in 7 months of playing.

    What ARE you on about?

If they were able to be killed it would be problematic for the justice system overall. The idea is you can't go to town when you have a bounty without risking losing stolen items. To remove that mechanic would be OP. The vivec wayshrine and thieves den is already a little OP.

Guards would be targeted 24/7 if they were killable. They would be a test dummy.

Yesterday I've seen a guy in Shornhelm who was running around and killing all the NPCs.
It seems like there are few wannabe maniacs out there.

Yeah, but then there's grabbing stuff on an AD toon and hearthing to the Auridon Harborage - from whence it's a very short run to the TG back door.... Or just using the wayshrine at Phaer and running back on a not AD girl.

    It's no big deal.

Never thought the day would come when someone would call a wayshrine OP. :P

Prior to the fact that the Necromancer Class is coming in the Elsweyr chapter, they will be working on the justice System to thematically fit with Necromancers, give it time.
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

That's all we need in towns. Raids running around killing guards, just because they can. And you thought having winged pets and bears blocking things were a pain.

Well, yes, but make guards killable and -poof! - there's no need to bother at all, justice system is just gone.

They could have copied Oblivion or Skyrim by making them exhausted for like a minute after depleting there health and regain max health once they get back up

Make guards killable, but make them harder to escape. For every guard you kill, have two take replacements spawn in. Eventually enough guards will spawn to overwhelm the player.
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.
    ---
Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
    ---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

First, not everyone hates guards being unkillable.

Second, no. Not a great idea as we will have raids in major cities adding to lag.

No, guards should stay as they are. But apples should move away from traders and writ drop offs

There used to be an achievement though something to do with 'mob attack' or something if enough of you did enough damage or similar IIRC

This topic made me remember a 2015 video of several players getting a guard to no health.

    Same old ending though.

I used to hate how guards were immortal but it's a necessary evil. I mean, you clearly wouldn't wanna see NPC's being killed constantly like in Hadran's Caravan where they all pile up and drop your FPS a ton.

I remember that bug when you could use the blade of woe on guild traders, lol. Though the unkillable guards add a nice risk to those with sticky fingers. :)
