    I love the ice staff over talons. So much more utility than S&B in my mind.

    Exactly. Ice staff = SNB + talons + minor maim + ult gen from distance. I have no idea why most people use S&B over it.

    Because SnB gives more resistances, faster movement speed while blocking, 15% more dmg mit. from range, extra stats (from shield ench). Not to mention talons provides the minor maim from choking, don't have to proc the root, easier to use open field and with a destro front which is the norm, you already get the ult gen from distance :)

    A nice big aoe root is useful, but when I was originally testing it Minor Maim really didn't proc that often, whereas Choking Talons is 100%... but much smaller area.

    Ice Blockade is superb for fighting nightblades, though.

    P.S. Wow, what an amazing magplar for kiting and tanking all those guys for 6 hours! ;)

    While I agree with some of what you say - SnB gives you slightly better stat and slightly more mitigation - I still find ice staff a lot more useful, at least for my recent setups.
    * Being able to light and heavy attack for mag return on your backbar is useful in a ton of scenarios
    * Ice blockade provides a MASSIVE area effect that damages, slows and roots enemies in it, not to mention the NB detection which is huge imo. There's also the fact you can choose where to place it and kite your enemies inside it.
    * Blockade adds another external debuff that your enemy may cleanse to have reapplied to them, which proves super useful vs templars.
    Plus AFAIK a huge amount of mDKs today double bar SnB, which I think is not the best idea, so having an ice staff on one bar for the ult gain is really an improvement imo.

    Just my opinion anyway. We could probably go back and forth over talons vs blockade with things like synergy, cost, range and whatnot, it is personal preference in the end :)

    I've actually switched to back barring ice staff and running dual swords front bar on my MagDK. It runs surprisingly well. And the WOE into a stun is pretty powerful.

    Right? It's quite useful! And I used to run dual swords on front bar as well, but I've come to realize if you are able to weave light attacks well, a flame staff front bar can increase your overall damage more than DW! My light attacks are almost always in the top 3 most damaging skills on CMX recaps :D
