So when is ZOS going to go through and finally get rid of all the uselss set? Kinda wish they would quite creating more of them every patch too. Who is in charge of sets over there?

They could, and probably should cull 1/3 of the sets and 1 crafting station in every zone (except base, given there is technically only 1 per zone given they are all in triplicate).

They could remove 2 crafting stations in every base zone leaving behind the most unique one to the zone, then move one DLC set to the base zone (yes it goes free to all) to clean up the duplicates. No need for duplicates since T1 patch. This wouldn't benefit me as I own all DLC and Chapters, but it would clean up the crafting stations. They could then remove some of the crafted sets that have extremely low usage because they are garbage. I'd prefer for them to drop some of the less common sets, than nerf the good ones to try to get people to use the garbage ones. Quality over Quantity. Only 2 crafted sets per Chapter / DLC zone would be ideal.

As for the zones and dungeons, they are kind of set up to have 1 Light, 1 Medium and 1 Heavy set. If you remove one of these, the drop rate of the other goes up. The reason why garbage sets drop in those zones / dungeons, is to act as a filler to prevent RNG from being too good.

If every set was great, there would be no excitement when finding a good set item you want. Especially now transmute is a thing, finding the gear you want will be even easier.

Some sets really need a rework.

I am looking at you, Oblivions Foe .

Don't say that, ZOS will just nerf all the other sets. Best to just remove it. Clean break.

Didn't they say it in the last stream that they are going to take a look at some least used sets around when Elsewyr comes? (Someone confirm so I don't spread false rumors!)
I hope Ice Furnace is in the list. That set still requires ice staff to proc properly and gives weapon damage for mages

no clue but there are so many sets with potential that it makes me cry we do not have them updated yet, especially healer sets like combat physician, trinimac etc if they were worked over I bet there wouldn't be such strict meta

They talked about pvp reward sets.
Some sets was useful back at launch because zone locking and none had high crafting levels.
Now we just craft hurdling or julianos.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Ah... so zone and dungeon sets are probably going to stay useless...

I fail to see what the issue is with having some sets that we do not want to wear. It is not like we have a shortage of sets worthy to wear. We have a good number of sets to choose from. Do not see why we need to be concerned about the others.

Besides, Zos has sets for every dungeon, trial, arena and zone. Doubtful it is worth spending the time to rework them or build new ones on top of the sets they add every DLC. I think I would prefer Zos focus their time on other matters.

In other words, this is very low on the list.

Most funny is not that only old sets are useless, well game is huge and on the move, they can't re-balance all of it each day.
But when NEW sets are complete dump, that's troublesome. They introduced several sets which procs from dodge in summerset, and then after several months they removed passive dodge and nerfed active dodge, making those sets useless. You golded out nocturnal's favor? -> GTFO and deconstruct it now. It's such a sign that devs don't have any solid plan for balance and just some dev guys play pvp and nerf anything that get them killed..

Or you could just ignore the sets you don't like.

Set usefulness changes from time to time. It wasn't too long ago that Mother's Sorrow, Advancing Yokeda, and Armor Master were 'pure garbage'.

The game evolves. Meta comes and meta goes. It is far better to have a plethora of sets that permit players to tinker and experiment rather than demanding that the developers decide what players should use.

Just ignore the setsyou don't think are useful - they're not hurting you in any way, shape, or form.

The developers have all the data they need to identify sets that may need reworking, which they do from time to time and indicate they will continue to reevaluate.

    Calm down.

Useless to you does not mean useless to everyone. Some players want certain sets, foods, abilities, etc from a role playing perspective.

yes its others just took the two most popular, night silence is another one, note to self this is not an healer set do not heal in.

The saddest ones are the ones that really have potential but are so underpowered that theyre not worth using

Also some of them are from like 3-4 years ago and never updated with the power creep of the game so are way too weak now

If you have "useless set" you always can deconstruct it, so it is not so useless... Another question that it does them very cheap...

Well, the useless sets will probably go away when ZOS finally adds at least one more NPC undaunted quest giver and Undaunted Chest at the Undaunted sites. We need another Undaunted Chest more than ever.

This is very doubtful to happen. Zos will add sets every update. Monster sets and other sets for each and every dungeon and trial. Drop sets and crafted sets for every DLC. There is really no reason to think otherwise.

And unless they have said something, I doubt very much they will get rid of sets some consider useless. For starters, there are more important things for them to be concerned with and this is also rather petty for us to worry about.

I think its best to look at eso sets in the same light as certain cards or decks in TCGs. Depending on the current meta and set period of what cards are in rotation, some sets are just simply obsolete at a given time based on changing rulesets that once enabled them as viable.

Most level headed people should understand right away that this type gear creep is not sustainable if you are attempting to keep them all balanced. Eso is very lateral with progression and gearing. There is a breaking point which the shear amount of sets becomes unwieldy and nigh impossible to balance evenly accross the board. Some sets are just flat out buns, but there is nothing inherently wrong with sets existing in the game that are simply bronze or silvers, compared to the gold alternatives, at least there isnt when you start encroaching 350+ sets.

Yes, LESS options is what we all want...NOT. I honestly dont care if you think a set is worthless or not, the last thing we need is to be further pigeonholed into a given build.
