Started playing some while ago, and while i think the game is beautiful, vanilla cities really leave something to be desired. they're very... grey. many of them have very simple designs and look kind of bland compared to some of the new map building we have in game.
are the newer cities from DLCs like summer set or the new one any better? :D

Summerset is the new one. Noone outside Zenimax has gotten to see anything of elsweyer save what they've shown us. And I am highly confused as to what you consider good, because the vanilla cities mostly are awesome looking with decent layouts of where vendors and crafting areas/ banks/ whatever else you might need are.

The DLC cities are bigger and fancier to a point where they really should go back and polish some of the base game cities.

I know they won't, but they should.

They should polish up some old housing furniture too. Some you just can't mix and match in a house because the quality is so drastic.

You mean the architecture created 5-7 years ago doesn’t look as good as the newer architecture added to the game? Shocking!

i'm not talking about an usefulness point of view, but in regard to aesthetic design. they look very bland and boring, many look very similar, most don't have any diferent features to help them stand out, and most building in them look the same. play some single player rpgs like w3 or others and you'll see even a small town can be given a lot of personality with some simple things. :)

I disagree, don't see how construction yard of Vivec or small Alinor look better then Wayrest, Mourhhold, Windhelm etc

The newer cities are less copy-paste. I like Summerset and Orsinium the best.

Summerset's cities all look the same with white marble, but the devs did a lot with the verticality to make them different. The first time I went on the PTS, I got lost in Shimmerene without my minimap.

Orsinium is a city under construction. I run a thieving look there and the different houses/buildings are all very interesting to poke around in. The exteriors look grim and gloomy, but the interiors are distinct.

Morrowind is...if you've played TES III, go play that instead. Vivec is under construction and most of its buildings are closed off. The other cities are a little better, and the graphics are certainly nicer, but if you want to actually explore, I think TES III would serve better.

Oh, W3.. though i'm clearly not a witcher fanboy, and never read Sapkovski etc, i can't hold to launch W3 just now and run a little around Oxenfoort or Novigrad... they are so amazing. Or Vivec from TES3.. i don't know why ZOS can't just copy what already existed in previous games, and we have that toy construction yard of the city instead if real Vivec..

A lot of the DLC cities are better I would love to see a redone Mournhold looks like the garbage dump compared to what we see in DLC zones and its suppose to be the Eboheart Pact capital

Cities are for utility. Go play in a forest 💃

I think most cities in this game leave a lot to be desired. There are some nice ones though. Abah Landing is probably my favorite. I also like Windhelm. Orsinium is good. I am not a fan of the summerset cities.

The problem i have with this game in general that shows its ugly head mostly in cities is the lack of exploring. Like morrowind in its own game TES 3 had loads and loads of places to explore doors to go in. Here most of the doors are blocked off and non functioning. Only maybe a quarter of the doors you find are usable and there are far far fewer doors than earlier TES games.

ZOS has a very bland standard each time they add an xpack . New zone, x delves, y public dungeons, z major cities, a minor cities, no other places to explore. One of the things that made TES 3 so great was all the little random places you could explore. It would be like mini delves.

I would love to see that here, a bunch of little nooks and crannies you can explore. A bunch of random houses you can go in in cities. ZOS makes ESO very cookie cutter though. It makes it hard to get excited about new DLC or Chapters when you know its going to be like the last ones but with different scenery and a bit more lore. The only thing i found exciting about summerset for example was the ability to make a ton of gold off it. Everything else was kind of blah and all the delves but traitors vault were boring and not at all enjoyable. I actually like the base game delves much better.
