I'm sorry, but CP makes no sense to me. I do NOT WANT my tankden to have to use either stam or mag. I want her to use health as she has for 50 levels. I have no idea why this all changes just because all of a sudden she doesn't get "real" levels, she gets CP instead.
AND I have no clue how I should use that CP, since she's a tankden, and I don't have any idea why she would want all that stam and mag.
Now, entering caveat.... I play her as a tankden because my lag is abysmal (2000 ms+) so having the pet is a really good mitigation against the lag. And heavy armor + lots of health means that she survives stuff that most of you laugh off. Well, try laughing it off with my lag, and tell me how much fun it is.....
So I'm - conflicted, and confuzzled. And.... since this game doesn't seem to work in any way comparable to earlier TES games which I've played since Arena released (unsurprising since those are SPMR).... I'm actually not sure how much traction I have here.
I love the game. But I can't get through the quest lines - because lag like mine means that the end boss(es) in even mini-quest lines are something I can't manage. I can't even get through the Soul-Shriven line reliably. My main is sitting at Valley of Blades (at level 50....) and the only time I tried it ( a day or so back), she was dead in less than 30 seconds on the first boss.
My reflexes are okay; my mind is NOT a problem. What's a problem for me is lag. I can't fix the lag. So - I'm thinking I might have to go back to RIFT where the combat is more forgiving. And I could do the best housing in any game on the internet there....
I guess I can hope that TESVI will NOT be either MMO or VR. Otherwise, I think I might just have to be happy with Skyrim forever.

According to the official announcement stream, from the 15th I believe, they are not raising the usable CP cap above 810 at this time, nor do they have any plans to do so in the forseeable future. They did say that they were going to monitor the situation, and that they would consider discussing options at a later time.
They said nothing during the official announcement stream about removing CP, or replacing it with anything else. Please point out the specific comment in the thread that you referenced, that indicates anything other than what LiquidPony stated. If ZOS expanded on or corrected anything from the stream, I did not see it in the thread that you linked.

You would be level 50 with 81 Veteran Ranks and there's just no way that they will ever bring back the massively unpopular and boring VR system.
And as others have already pointed out the CP system isn't going away any time soon anyway, the cap just won't be increased.0 -

If you’ve got constant 2000ms ping time that ain’t the game. Also CP doesn’t just give you only Stam or mag lol, that’s just resource points. CP does provide some max stat but it also does many other things. So first maybe update your network gear and ISP or internet package, then try a good routing service like Mudfish if you live outside the server country, then when you have a normal connection come and make comments about CP.1 -

Not being raised next DLC is not the same as going away. He obviously meant not raising this DLC. It is likely we will see a raise when the chapter is released.

I am definitely not in favor of new materials as the materials beyond Ebony are already spitting on the lore. "How come my character in Skyrim can't wear Rubedite armor? It's way better than Ebony." Besides, unless they add something like transmutation gems that allow us to upgrade the level of old gear, nobody will be looking forward to having to grind new stuff. Especially since with the One Tamriel system a lvl38 character in lvl38 gear deals the same damage as a lvl50 character in level50 gear (as long as skills, passives and CP are the same).This Bosmer was tortured to death. Fact is whatever they do there will be vertical progression and those who hate CP now will hate whatever happens next wether they get replaced or tweaked. They just cannot seem to wrap their head around the fact it is not going away.0 -

Um. The ONLY connection available to me is satellite internet. I haven't any way to "upgrade" that. There IS not one other option available to me, no matter how much I'm willing to pay.
I tried to lease my own T1. They don't do that here.
Oh, btw. I live in the lower 48, 40 miles one way from "real broadband". The town 20 miles north of us just got high speed internet this last year, but they aren't interested in running it here for less than 100 full time users.
Also... we don't have either "real tv" (we pay almost $100 US a month so husband can watch Judge Judy and stupid games) or "real mobile" - cell phones do not work here at my house. I have a mobile. It doesn't work here. I have it for emergencies on the road.....
Seriously - I live 40 miles north of St George UT - and NONE of the above works in my end of this valley. Yes, some people east of us about 3 miles have better options - but at my house, I'm behind a major volcanic ridge - and nope there is NO service which is going to make it better.
I'm lucky to have wildblue. And I'm thankful I do - before wildblue... I had dialup. That was it. Still.... I'd really love to be able to play this game.
The weird thing is, both WoW and RIFT worked a lot better for me, combat wise, and considering lag. Unfortunately, they both went in directions with the games which weren't - going to be fun for me. So I left them.
I might have to go back to RIFT though. At the very least, the housing is superlative. I could be happy with that without ever playing the travesty of the game itself.2 -

✭✭✭✭Not sure why OP thinks the CP system is going anywhere. They wouldnt make that kind of announcement without some sort of system to replace the old. And since its been about 5 days since they announced the hold on CP increases and their decision to re-evaluate the current system. I seriously doubt they've come to any informative decision on the matter. At this point it would probably be far easier for them to rework the current mechanism than to rip it out of the game and replace it with normal levels, or to come up with a new one.
