Hunter's Eye (Bosmer) Passive - Why 3 Meters?

Just curious how the decision was reached to place Bosmer stealth detection at 3 meters.

The explanation/description of the change spoke to Wood Elves' hunting prowess (which is ranged, and specifically bow-centric according to lore) so why a measly 3 meters? That's less than the range of melee attacks.

I could imagine it was held to 3 meters so it doesn't overpower detect potions or the Sentry set, but I don't want to assume. Some insight would be appreciated, thanks.

This needs to be revisited. It’s the only passive of any race that is only useful in PvP as “many creatures can’t be bothered to sneak about” and leaves Khajit as the only race with any stealth gameplay benefit in their racial passive.

    This needs to be reverted.

It's the only part of a passive, and may as well not even be there at all. The other part would be nice if it survives.

But yeah, replacing this bit of uselessness or at the very least supplementing it with the original stealth bonus is the way to go.
Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

Yes. Keep the new dodge roll, brink back the stealth radius reduction.

    Stealth detection is useless.

Stealth radius reduction serves a very important role in a PvP group. It allows the leader to ask the Bsomer in the group "Name, what do your elf eyes see?"

They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!

I'd be shocked if the speed bonus survives in anything close to it's stated form. It would be inconsistent to the point of ridiculousness for them to nerf the "I'll run around so fast you can't target me" playstyle in Murkmire, then turn around and grant that ability to a single race. I don't think they've thought that through yet.

I suspect it'll end up being minor expedition for 2/3/4 seconds once the dust settles. A sort of poor man's Hasty Retreat for Bosmer who don't use a bow/bow build. Or a significantly smaller bonus than currently set.

There are other threads talking about the Bosmer loss of stealth hiding radius and the speed boost after dodge roll, so those discussions can be continued there. This thread is about the decision behind placing detection radius at 3 meters.

NO race should have a passive that is only useful for PvP. Basically, that's the PvP-loving developers promoting PvP above all over forms of gameplay.

And before people scream at me: I do PvP, but not exclusively. I do both PvP and PvE. I'm not a PvE-only player.

@SydneyGrey I dont understand why everybody has a problem with a useless passive in PvP and PvE. The stealthy version is also complete irrelevant for PvE aswell - so nothing changed...

    Why 3 meters op?

Because it’s completely random and arbitrary just like this change. They wanted to change something, ANYTHING, so they pulled 3 meters out of their quiver.

It doesn't matter if it was 3 miles, it's a completely useless passive in PvE.

If the devs insist on giving this to the woodelves, that's fine IF the woodelves get their 3m hiding bonus back, too. That way they can maintain that it is different from what the Khajiit have.

edit to add: even if they add all kinds of places where this stupid passive is worthwhile in the base game and all of the DLC areas, I'd still hate it because it is contrary to nearly 20 years of TES gameplay.
