Necromancer speculation

So, damage dealing skill line says that necromancer can imbue his spells with elements. So two questions:
1) Am I the only one who is surprised that necro doesn't deal magic damage instead of elemental? (btw frost sux a$$)
2) Does that mean that element depends on the staff type you have equipped? Meaning flaming skull or whatever that spammable is called will deal flame, frost or lightning damage depending on what desto staff you're using?
Profanity filter is a crime against the freedom of speech. Also gags.

Probably not. And what would the damage type be if you don't have a staff equipped?

My guess is that flaming skull and one of its morphs will do fire damage and the other morph either frost or lightning.

The skeletal mage will do the missing type of damage. That way all three damage types are covered. A stamina morph for the mage could be a skeleton archer.

My speculations base on the art:

    Elementalist (dps) line:

    Elementalist-Necromancer-Skilltree.jpg

Burning Skull: This probably have a cast time like the skull from vMA last boss. Probably gonna stun or knock target back. More like a pvp skill than a pve, unless they give it chance to proc instant cast like sorc's crystal.

Summon Skeleton Mage: Most likely will act like NB's shade. A single target "DoT" skill, like Vampire's Bane of Templar or Crippling Grasp of NB.

Skeleton bomber: Like those bomber robots in vHoF triplet. Deal AoE damage. My guess is this skill will be rarely used since AoE is not what endgame dps focus on.

Graveyard: A ground AoE DoT, like path of NB, Templar's shard or Sorc's liquid lightning. The radius look quite big.

Siphon energy: Look like this skill can only being use with corpses around -> not very useful on boss fight with no or few adds. The effect can be dealing damage to the enemies. PvP skill maybe?

Bone Dragon Breath: Ulti. Probably deal frontal AoE. Look like necro doesn't have a strong single target ulti. Their skills seem more about AoE, unless there are corpse around so they can use Siphon energy, if this indeed is a single target burst damage skill. I guess necro will use Elemental Weapon from Psijic line as spam skill.

I can't guess which skill can have stam morph base on the art.

    Bone Armor (tank) line:

    Bone-Armor-Necromancer-Skilltree.jpg

Bone fetish: Not sure what this do. Debuff enemies around maybe? There look like a bubble around the caster. Maybe this will heal/shield or buff necro's resistance base on how many enemies/corpses around? Or maybe just need to be in the radius of the totem.
    Taste of Life: drain health?
Impaling Spike: Root, like DK's Talon or Warden's Impaling Shard. Look like you can drop this at targets location like Winter's Revenge, not around like Talon or Gripping Shard. Perhaps will has a 2nd, even 3rd effects like debuff, DoT...
    Bone Armor: resistance buff.
Consume: I really hope this is not another "Repentance". Consume corpses to recover resources is a very unreliable way to sustain in boss fight.
Bone Colossus: Ulti. Not sure what you can do as a Colossus but probably along the line "can take very big hit"

Look like there is no class pulling skill. This is a disadvantage for tanking compare to DK and warden. Hopefully they hide a way to sustain in passive because "consume corpses" will fail the same way Repentance does for Templar tank. Necro will also need unique buff/debuff somewhere in their skill if they want to be competed as tank.

    Soul Mending (heal) line:

    Soul-Mending-Necromancer-Skilltree.jpg

Mend Flesh: Look like ground AoE burst heal, like Warden's seed.
Skeleton Mender: My guess is smart target HoT.
Restoring Tether: From the art look like you need corpse to use this skill. Can be a smart target burst heal, or restore magicka/stamina to a friendly target.
Release Essence: Ground AoE HoT? Probably will also proc some passives like Templar's Cleansing Ritual.
    Consume Curse: Sound like purge.
Resurrect: Ulti. Sound like instant res. Not sure how many target. Maybe necro will be asked to slot this ultimate for some fight, like NB with Soul Siphon or Sorc with Negate.

As mentioned above the burning skull skill might have a morph that isn't fire. Siphon energy looks like a lightning attack that involves corpses and graveyard imo will be a frost damage aoe that actually does decent damage, since it is in a damage oriented skill line.

If we are to take the "Imbue the dead with frost, fire, and lightning to bring ruin upon your enemies." description literally then yeah none of the other skills will be magic damage based, which I do find surprising. Although I do think it would've been cool for the skills to be magic by default and altered to a specific element depending on your staff, but that would make necro too unique and uniqueness tends to get nerfed these days.

Bone dragon breath might have both a frost and fire morph akin to meteor. Bomber will definitely have a fire morph. I agree the skeletal mage could be a wild card depending on the morphs offered. Might be the one skill that actually does magic damage.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).
