Finally forced the client to update.
I went to C:\Program Files (x86)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game and found game_player.version which was clearly old judging by the date/time created, I renamed it to game_player.version.old and immediately the launcher started updating, I didn't even have to close it.
    Can login now!!!!

Ok - I'm sending my 1st born to you via Fedex! (JK) Thanks - renaming that and a re-boot finally got me in!

I had same issue. Renaming the version file appears to have worked ... downloading patch now. Thanks

This works. I had to do a re-boot too, but it did work.

Thanks! Clearly Zen should hire you.

Didn't work for me unfortunately. Even tried it with a reboot, still getting the same error.

I tried the client patch as suggested. Except now I keep getting that damn "An unknown error has occurred" message after only 1 minute in the game. Help?
