2019 Bounty Hunter post

Re-posting this here since it's now more relevant after yesterdays live-stream that talked about a introduction of a new activity which idea comes from Fortnite. This is an idea that I thought up a couple years back so I hope people find it appealing.

To start this activity you must willingly participate which means if you do not choose to participate and rather continue with vanilla PvP then all you need to do is avoid speaking to the NPC that would represent this Bounty Hunter activity.
  • When you enter Cyrodiil if you kill a enemy faction player (random players in the faction you just killed) that enemies alliance will give random players your name as a bounty.
  • The more you kill the more renown you earn which attracts targets to you (will go into detail why it would later in the post).
  • There could be leader-boards that show who's killed the most players and with what ability was the final blow (so we'll know if you're just a bomber :) )
  • You have an option to directly participate in it via a new NPC who will give you the option to participate in it but you will still be killed by other players in PvP anyway.
  • If you participate in it and if you have a target, it will show you where your target's general location is (similar to that of a forward camp but double/triple the size to make it harder).
  • When you reach a certain kill target as per quest you can turn it in to the new NPC who will give you another kill quest + currency specific for bounty hunter rewards.
  • High profile targets will only be visible if they're within sight range and in combat, killing them gives you 50-100% more renown.
  • If you are a high profile target which is obtained when killing over 20 players (up for debate) you will earn more bounty hunter rewards when turning in the quest.
  • Killing targets nets you more renown rather than killing random targets.
  • Being in a group of two or more players (You + 1 constitutes as a group) allows you to gain renown by assisting the player but only if you participate in the quest. This allows you to gain defending specific titles which will be listed below.
  • Renown from assisting will only net you 20% of the initial value.

Rewards
  • Cosmetic costumes that can be sold (up for debate)
  • Emotes (ones that show your fighting strength based on weapon equipped and class)
  • New Titles (like "Hunter" or "Rogue/Assassin" & "Guardian/Defender" or "Savior")
  • New Set items (Trade-able aka bind on equip)
  • Siege Merchant who sells you new siege gear (we all know it's coming sooner or later >:) )
  • Siege Bag
  • Gold ranging from 500-1,000 per bounty target eliminated (up for debate)

The person doing the killing will receive the rewards + renown per kill. The quest will give you 20-50 enemy specific factions to kill but after a specific time frame (up for debate) it will reset. You can turn the quest in even if you kill 1 player from that specific faction but you won't gain a lot of Bounty Hunter currency till you start killing a lot of players but bare in mind the time limit will put you at risk at sometimes.
There should be a multiplier in affect after certain kill thresholds so it'll make it easier to reach the quest specific cap before the timer runs out.

A high target player (one who's killed more than 20 players) will have an Icon maybe a skull or scythe near their name when they enter combat; killing that player will give you 50-100% (up for debate) more renown (the person you killed will still keep theirs) but if you die, you will lose 10-20% of your own renown (suicides do count as a penalty too).

If you do not wish to participate simply don't talk to the new NPC and don't accept this quest he/she offers; Those who are in groups can receive a loot-share which will reward each player a fraction of renown + gold gained (aimed at the support groups in PvP).

Please list whether you're for or against an idea like this

It sounds like something for people who want 1v1s in the middle of Cyrodiil battlefields.

If I were a solo player or a small group, I would use this option so that people would come and fight me.

If I were playing in a large group, I would not use it because I don't want the enemy to be able to track our movement across Cyrodiil. Unless I were setting a trap for players, such as resource tower farming, and then, sure.

Now, I think this would work better in Imperial City. IC is already geared towards the small scale, dueling, and ganking playstyle, and so a "let's hunt each other" bounty game where you get a clue for which district someone is in coukd be lots of fun and fit in with the PVP already present there.

I can see how some individual players might think this is a good idea for them. However, I do not see how Cyrodiil will benefit from it. IDK, what works on a small scale of BR might not play out as well on larger styles of PvP.

The idea is to have players who do a lot of killing get rewarded by completing quest where they'd kill another willing participant of said activity & to provide something to work towards after completing the allotted PvP quests.

It differs from rewards of the worthy because you get currency by completing the tasks which can be used to purchase items related to the activity which goes from cosmetics to titles and possibly more stuff other than player requested siege bags.

The activity is optional so only if you choose to participate in it is when players would get the occasional hint to where you're located.
The hints as stated give a general location of where you're located at that time but is 2x the size of a camps diameter so I think it would be difficult to necessarily track said target immediately but also would give you a general idea as to where they're located.

Never really thought of IC being a place since it's pretty small aside from in the sewers but maybe that'll be an interesting concept.

Again, the main reason I wouldn't use it when playing with a group is that I dont want our movements to be tracked. Say we're trying to accomplish an objective quickly - broadcasting our position (and some people would broadcast in zone chat) isnt helpful to that.

However, if I wanted to set a trap for other players, yeah, I'd totally use this. Or if I wanted to court 1v1s, I'd hang out and see who came to fight.

Got ya I thought you were thinking that you'd come into PvP, kill someone and boom position blown which I reiterated that not being the case.

This idea actually sounds pretty fun. This with the new OP weapon that ZoS will bring out later this year will add dome much needed flavor to pvp.
