What is the current CP cap? Are they saying it will never be raised again, or just not with the next expansion? Source on those findings?
Thanks all!

The none CP fans in this game are very vocal group. Much of what they say is correct however, there is a significant amount of people that play MMORPG that play to make thier toons stronger over time... People play games for different reasons and telling them the reason they are playing is wrong is a waste a breath.....
Exactly. This game first ran with veteran levels then CP which was in truth not much different as far as vert prog goes. To take away vert prog after 5 years will effectively create an NGE like it did in Star Wars galaxies. The was literally the beginning of the end of that game which resulted in shutting down the servers.
It is a safe bet the majority of the players play this game for power progression, this is the common experience in MMORPG's. Taking that away will alienate them. Sure CP could be reworked or even replaced but removing vert prog all together is a death sentence for any game that has had vert prog.
IMO for an MMORPG to work without vert prog it would have to be from the start, then those who play would have selected it with no vert prog, likely making it one of the reasons for the choice. Keep in mind you are basically talking about a CYOA storyboard then as you will not be growing in power. I would not even give a game like that a first look. We actually already have a lot of games like that, they are mostly point and click and while they have a niche following they hardly command any significant number of players to warrant the cost of an MMORPG server farm.

Do you really want to feel "stronger" or are you looking to be better than other players? I am not sure what adding a fraction of a % to your stat page is going to do for you.
You get stronger by getting new gear and monster sets apparently.
Also, for those who are tossing things around like "most players" this and "most players" that, just stop it. You have no idea about any percentage of players in the game. You have no statistical data that can be reliably used in any discussion and saying that "most players" do anything but play the game is just trying to get people on your side with hyperbole and made up stats.
What would you do if ZOS gives you actual data and you see that 1% of the players has 1,000 CP? Maybe you are so far above the curve that there is no way that it can make you "stronger" without unbalancing the rest of the game.
It's silly, you have no idea about any data, just like the rest of the players. We simply don't know.

You don’t get stronger with new gear. You trade the stats of your current gear for the new one. Lose 129wd gain 854 weapon crit.

That's not a safe bet at all. There is a reason why not a single post about this has gotten upvoted on Reddit. The vast majority of the community doesn't give a *** about arbitrary level progression. GW2 proved you can have a hugely successful MMO without level "progression". ESO appears to be moving in that direction. The launching of One Tamriel caused the player population to literally triple overnight because gamers today want bordererless sandbox experiences.
Soundles1990 wrote: »So why should i continue playing this game ? I already have achieved everything. There is nothing to do now to progress.
Most players now have 1000+ Cp so a increase will just keep unbalancing without progression since everyone is far above the increase.

There are better sandbox games. If you want a never ending game you need vertical progression. “Power Creep” is code for I can’t beat someone. It’s the same as “nerf it cause it killed me.”

absolutely not. the trail gear we got from cloud rest was leaps and bounds better then what was currently in game. Nothing even comes close to a trade off. clear out your cp. use no racial bonus then do dps tests with each of the current trail gear sets and watch how much the difference is. Anyone that has spent even a little bit of time in front of a target dummy testing sets knows how much stronger cloud rest sets are in comparison to others.

Funny, running necro, netch, zaan or necro, mothers sorrow, zaan, or necro, spell strategist, zaan or necro, siroria, zaan or siroria, spell strategist, zaan or mothers sorrow, siroria, zaan .... and many other combinations I tested all landed within about 1k dps of each other on a sorc. I went back to netch, necro, zaan because I dont need to be worried about confining myself to a small AOE circle, or only get increased dps on a single target; that is what zaan is for.
Yolokin_Swagonborn wrote: »If you've already done everything... why do you want more champion points.. what good will they do you?
Nothing, they just want endless points to chase. They should replace CP with "Extra super duper special points" except these new points do nothing. But you get a little pop up on the screen saying "You got another point! you are so special" That way these meaningless progression people would stay happy and the rest of us won't have to deal with the nightmares that power creep creates.

What relevance does what people post on Reddit have here? I don't go to Reddit. I, and others, are disagreeing with you here. Reddit isn't more important or representative than the ESO forums.
There were many changes with One Tamriel. You can't attribute all of the game's success after that point to only one aspect. Also, One Tamriel did NOT remove progression. It changed HOW you progress.
If you like GW2 so much and apparently dislike how ESO works so much, why don't you play that game and let those of us who like the game the way it is play this one? Unless you can provide evidence to the contrary, I'm pretty sure ESO is much more successful than GW2. ESO has a quarter of a million more followers on Twitch than GW2.

Reddit is by far the biggest ESO community on the internet. It's also a quick and easy way to see what the community agrees/disagrees with since unpopular ideas get downvoted.
And where did I say I like GW2 more than ESO? You keep saying that an MMO without vertical "progression" will die. GW2 is proof that your argument is invalid.
And literally the single biggest selling points of One Tamriel was the introduction of scaling and removal of artifical in-game barriers. That is why people flocked to the game.
Characters will be Battle Leveled to all zones - same as it happens currently for the DLC.
No more PvE alliance restrictions: go to any zone you wish
No more PvE leveling restrictions: go to any zone you wish (Except Coldharbour, as you will need to have completed the main quest)
No more PvE grouping leveling restrictions: You can quest with low level friends without rolling an alt. (Trials and veteran dungeons still require high level)
No More Cadwell's Silver and Cadwell's Gold: Do them in any order you wish.
Weapon Skills now have ultimates
All Group Dungeons now have veteran versions, Veteran Challenge Pledges will grant 2 Gold Keys, and all Veteran Pledges will grant 1 Gold Key
There are 16 new Monster Helm Sets
There are 20+ new dropped sets.
Craglorn Re-Design — You can now solo in this group-friendly environment.
Dungeon updates — Normal and Veteran Modes have been added.
Dueling — Challenge your friends or foes and test your mettle in one-on-one combat.
New Weapon Ultimates — Master your weapon of choice and get new Ultimate abilities.
Undaunted Pledge System Updates — New daily pledges and valuable rewards.
Itemization updates — Items will now scale to your level everywhere in the world.

Evidence that the ESO Reddit community is bigger than these forums or you're just making it up.
I never said ESO would die without vertical progression. I said I would stop playing.
You use GW2 as an example of what ESO could be. GW2 is less popular than ESO, yet you want ESO to mimic GW2. Makes TOTAL sense.
Here's the features added with One Tamriel. I couldn't find a poll showing ending character progression as the most popular change. Note, it even says trials and veteran dungeons will require higher levels and people still decided to play. Progressing your character to play dungeons and trials was right there in the marketing, too.Characters will be Battle Leveled to all zones - same as it happens currently for the DLC.

Subreddits are generally the biggest online communities for any game. The ESO sub has 173k members with around 2k online at any time. The forums don't even sniff those numbers. Anyone can also join Reddit while you need an invite from support to join these forums. That barrier alone ensures a smaller population.
GW2 and ESO have similar population numbers if we go by fan estimates (since neither dev posts concurrent numbers). They are both hugely popular.
And sure, OT came with a bunch of features. But the main features were the scaling and removal of cross-faction barriers. The game shifted from a traditional level-gated, linear adventure, to a more sandbox-style RPG (which is what the vast majority of players wanted it since it more closely mimics the single player TES games).

Huh. I wonder if they did away with that lately. In June last year (when I started playing), I had to put in a ticket to be invited to the forum. Was a tad bit off-putting, really. I've been a good member of many forums over the years: MS, Adobe, WordPress, WoW, RIFT....
