Why so much for upgrade ? Paid $60 for base at beginning, $40 for each chapter. Total of $180 with Elswyr. New players get all chapters for $60. Does'nt seem fair to loyal players.

ZOS pricing has always been all over the shop, like most of their PR/Marketing/Community efforts.

Yeah this is why I tell everyone in zone asking if its worth buying summerset to just wait until the new chapter is announced because they will just give everything away for a single price. I still remember back when they said they would never have expansions everything would be DLC based and if you were a PLUS member you wouldn't need to purchase the DLCs.

    Then morrwind came.

Look at other long lasting games and you'll see the same. Publishers don't want to make that "entry" cost too prohibitive to discourage brand new players.

Make sure if you already have the game that whichever version you buy you are getting the digital upgrade and not the complete version including the content you already have.

Problem with this is, if you already have the base game, you can not buy the full version of the new chapter, only the upgrade.

I worked it out for Elsweyr if you want Morrowind and Summerset as well.

    Standard Editions
    • New player: $60
    • Returning player with Morrowind: $40 + $20 = $60
    • Returning player w/o Morrowind: $40 + $20 + $40 (crowns) = $100

    Collector's Editions
    • New player: $80
    • Returning player with Morrowind: $50 + $30 = $80
    • Returning player w/o Morrowind: $50 + $30 + $40(crowns) +$25(crowns) = $145

I really don't think Morrowind is that much more valuable now than it was when it was on the website and other online stores for $20 - $50, do you?

Ah didn't relies if you already had base you had to purchase the upgrade only. So yeah I see where you are coming from. I was frustrated when they made Morrowind part of the base game right before summerset released. I mean I remember before Morrowind when they said they would not have expansions and part of the PLUS membership was that you would be able to play any future release without purchase.

I feel like upgrades should only be $15 max or at least do this price for PLUS members. This way if your not a plus member it may sway you to switch and still get it for $30 (membership + upgrade price). $40 seems expensive to me for a new zone and class. $60 is a great price if your new but the loyal players are kinda screwed.

Don't forget the monthly 15 bucks if you have ESO+.
far too many Dungeon only DLC's.
Them making the craft bag ESO+ exclusive was the best idea they have EVER had profit wise.
I mean, even the ESO+ "exclusives" in the crown store aren't really exclusive.
But that craft bag...I would bet my life savings that if they added it to the crown store at LEAST 50% of the ESO+ subscribers would drop the subscription in a heartbeat.
Oh, the person who came up with "chapters" is also brilliant in a diabolical way. Probably the same person.

Then wait till next year when they include it as part of ESO plus or add it to the next chapter and you will avoid paying for it. You want it now. You are going to pay.

They didn't make Morrowind part of the base game right away. The players, myself included, who bought the individual chapter on release got to play it a year earlier than people who didn't. We also got the Warden class as part of it. The version that is dlc now does not, iirc, include the Warden class. That has to be purchased separately in the crown store. This game is about the cheapest hobby I've ever gotten into, so buying the chapter at release didn't bother me. I have the feeling that next year, when Summerset is a year old, it will probably end up as part of the base game/dlc too.

Morrowind the chapter, can still be picked up for $20; at least from Amazon. And if you buy the chapter, you get the Warden with it. Buying it at release at the higher price lets the buyer play it for a year before the people who want to wait and pay a lower price. The people who didn't want a Warden can get the dlc/crownstore version, for crowns bought or crowns accumulated from a sub and only buy the Warden class if they want it. Likewise players who didn't want Morrowind can get the Warden if they want it by buying the class from the crownstore.

Cost is why I'm still on the fence as to whether I want to buy it or not (and it's not a "i don't have the money" issue, it's more or less I've already spent a ridiculous amount on this game already). Morrowind I liked 'cos I liked the warden class, otherwise the zone itself bored me. Summerset? I can't say I enjoyed anything about it. The zone, again bored me. The new skills don't apply to my characters since I'm mostly a stam player, jewelry crafting for me is meh, getting the mats is ridiculous. So even though I am interested in the new class, it will cost me $70....having a very difficult time justifying that cost when I can just buy a new release game, or multiple other games on sale.

Are you sure it's that price for just the digital upgrade which is all you need? It's £24-99 in the UK, but I'm unable to get it listed in US dollars as it auto-reverts to a UK page. Please ensure you're selecting the digital upgrade for existing players and not the standard edition for new players. My price is for the PC version without Steam. No idea what the Steam or console pricing is.

Understood, I thought you were concerned only with getting the new class.

In the UK the collector's digital upgrade is £34-99 which makes it a whole lot cheaper than the previous boxed versions, so I'll likely get it on both my accounts rather than as before when I got the collector's edition on one and the standard upgrade on the other.

If you buy it on Amazon or one of the other places to still find it, can it be applied to an existing account? And does it matter if it is a Steam account? (Also, it is my impression that the ones for sale out in the world are just whatever stock remained. Is it still going to be a thing, or once those are sold is it just gone and only in the crown store?)

I get that buying early on is going to be at a higher price and I'm fine with that. What seems off here is that when it moved from the web store at a $20 price point for the full chapter in to the crown store for 3500+1500 crowns, it seems to have effectively doubled in price.

I like giving people the ability to buy the parts separately if they want, but look at the price comparison I posted above. We are not talking about paying a high price for the newest chapter. we are talking about returning players paying more than it was worth for a 2 year old chapter that even comes with the base $20 game now.

I'm not bothered by the price.

GMG already has it up for 14% off, and I'm still waiting because they run vouchers pretty frequently. I'm betting I could pre-order for up to 20% off if I wait a bit.

Planning on getting the collector's edition, for $40 with the discount. Not too shabby.

Old games always drop in price. Assassin's Creed Oddyssey + season pass came out in October for $120 (Canadian dollars). I bought it in December for $60. It'll probably be on sale for $30 next year. That's how pricing works.

Most of my AAA games on Steam were purchased for under $10.

Why so much for upgrade ? Paid $60 for base at beginning, $40 for each chapter. Total of $180 with Elswyr. New players get all chapters for $60. Does'nt seem fair to loyal players.

Not only that, but it's the only game on consoles where DLC's can't be family shared. Zenimax actually took the development time to bypass family sharing with their code system. I'm gonna pass. Greedy ***. They don't understand they're losing money that way. Funny how the games that offer all DLCs for free but lock the cosmetics make the most money. ESO does it all, B2P game, crazy prices on all DLC, Cosmetics locked behind a paywall, even costume coloring locked behind a paywall + a premium monthly subscription...
