If there are at least four people in this thread interested in the story aspect, guess what? You've got a group.

Yes because all those people play on the same platform, at the same time, and have the right builds and skillsets to complete a DLC dungeon even on normal mode. :|

its no issues getting the story if you go in the first days. Then nobody know the mechanics and all want the story.
Later on people want to rush as they has done it many times.
Still doing it on normal and say you need quest works out 90% of time.

And you can always drop quest if you feel you did not get it good enough.
Dropped quest twice in Scalecaller Peak as I entered an run in progress.

Not true. The only people who will likely be able to clear the dungeon at all in the first days are the more hardcore players who traditionally (not always, but usually), don't care about story period and will move through it as fast as possible. There is nothing wrong with this. That is their play style, and it's fine - but it is still true.

Needing the quest is not the same as actually being able to enjoy the quest. When you say that in a group most people expect you to slam through the dialogue not read it. Having to repeatedly do content you find frustrating in order to get to what you like is... well, counter intuitive. People should be enjoying themselves with their entertainment, not hating it.

All I'm saying here is that we need to acknowledge how odd it is that a group of people who are story focused are going to be the least likely to get to enjoy the story and that OP's concern is valid.
I did it this way with the last two dungeon dlc.
You don't have to be hardcore to do normal dlc, the only I had issues with was Scalecaller as groups wiped on the poison boss because none knew mechanic and probably fake healer.

Tend to listen to the quest myself even on alts except then just done it on old dungeons.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Each normal dungeon has three possible winning solutions Meow, Chair and 42. Gronk see many people in chat wanting to do normal for story. You just need to find the happening spots in the zones.

I have never seen anyone LFG in chat for story runs, quite the reverse actually; people who LFG in chat tend to ask for experienced players because they want to avoid getting dud PUGs via the group finder.

So is Elsweyr a chapter or is it a dungeon?

Cause if it’s a dungeon- no thanks. I’d rather not be yelled at to hurry up or be called a “fake” for never doing dungeons before and avoiding them.

Elsweyr is a chapter, but the plot is linked to the other 3 DLC being put out this year (2 dungeon + 1 story) in an over-arching arc called "Season of the Dragon". So if you want to experience the full arc from start to finish you will need to buy the chapter and all 3 DLC, and complete all the dungeons.

The dragon story line will be 2 dungeon DLCs, the Chapter and a story DLC.

In recent DLC dungeons, normal mode isn't story mode any more.
So either they add a real story mode - or they keep DLC dungeons out of the story entirely

This. So much this. They NEED to add a solo/story mode already. I've been playing for years and I STILL don't know the full story to City of Ash and all the others because of rushers, and the anxiety of needing to rush or be kicked from a group. There is no chilling and enjoying the story in dungeons at all, and me and my friends hate it.

Thus the 'reasonable build' stipulation, and you are really going to tell me you don't think there will be at least 3 other people on any given platform not wanting the same immersed result?

The point I was obviously driving home was that if it''s an issue/want for one person, it's probably the same for others. Those others can group and accomplish their like minded goal.

Did you really think about your response before you posted it?

You'll be able to enter with premade's willing to take their time, and no Normal mode anything has been even remotely unclearable to date.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

I stop doing dungeons once my characters hit level 30. DLC dungeons I avoid like the plague after I first tried them last year.

Moved onto BDO and GW2 Skyrim, ATS/ETS2, ACNH and the overall goodness of single player games

    RIP to the following:

I thought about this as well when I heard the announcement, it's weird putting story progress behind dungeon completion, and I wonder if someone who doesn't have the two parts of the Wrathstone tablet will be able to proceed onto the Elseweyr main quest regardless... Anyway, for those who are worried about not being able to appreciate the quest while grouped, there are specialized guilds that do slow dungeon runs, allowing everyone to experience the content, I can't remember names at the top of my head, but I've frequently seen them advertised here on the forums.

It looks like they want more people buying the dungeon DLCs, if it ties into the main chapter story then theres more incentive for people to buy it.
So the Dark Elves have weird alien architecture, where people live in mushroom towers and the shell of a giant crab, but the High Elves, the pinnacle of technology, the most magically advanced race in Tamriel, are still stuck in slightly pretty, fairly tall stone buildings? Not even a hint of a glass city? Are stainless glass windows really enough to claim that a city is made of glass?
