Playing with the official version

So, the new expansion just has been announced and I´m encouraged to get into the game again, though I would like to do that over the official launcher and not the steam launcher, therefore I want to buy the game again.

Now, how does that work ? Can I just buy the game on their official website and then login with my normal account ? I already have created an eso account, which is linked to steam. Do I have to remove the link ?

thanks in advance

nope, you'll always have your account linked to steam, unfortunately

however you can link your account to steam, just not vice versa

Put in a ticket. I had my original purchase linked to steam, had so many issues I wanted to get RID of steam period. Bought the game through ESO store, and had CS help me figure out how to ignore steam and login with the normal eso64.exe shortcut.

I don't now remember what all went on, so can't tell you how - but CS can. Buy the "normal version" first, THEN put in a ticket. Did not require reinstalling the game btw. In fact, I'm now running two accounts on the same "steam install" I first had a friend send me (his entire 80GB game folder, as it would have taken the rest of my life to download it over satellite.... and I would have left my only heir with a bill she'd never have been able to pay off for the extra bw.... *SIGH* Life on satellite....)

Okay, I´ll ask the support, though I´m not able to buy any version of the game, besides the digital upgrade of the new expansion.
It says "You do not qualify for this product", where the buy-button is supposed to be.
I hope removing the link is possible, otherwise a new account needs to be created but I hate it to have multiple accounts of one game.

Well, be persistent. The first reply you get will be total garbage. Just use the link that says "I need more help" or whatever.

Oh lord. I just remembered that I didn't buy the second game code through the ESO store. I bought the Gold Box from Amazon. I don't know if that matters - but it might.

I´ll try with all the patience that I´ve gathered over the holidays.^^
    Anyway, thanks for the reply.
Worst case will be when I have to make a new account, but at least I can play the game then.
