Would making hybrid builds viable increase build diversity?

Apologies for formatting, on mobile.

Referring to builds which make use of both stamina and magicka.

So far, the closest thing we have to this is Pelinal's Aptitude, which works by setting both weapon damage and spell damage to the highest of the two values. The problem with just this is that it still forces the player into dumping all of their attribute points into one of the two, as any attribute points invested jn the other decreases the bonus they'll be getting. This results in a character with ridiculously lopsided resource pools, which probably aren't very good.

Returning to the topic at hand, would making hybrid stamina/magicka builds more viable increase build diversity, or will it simply create a new meta that everyone flocks too?

I'm really eager to see everyone's thoughts about this. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like for you to expand upon your answers in the comments.

It has the potential to increase diversity, but only if it's done right

I don't think hybrid builds can be made viable as long as damage is tied to max magicka or max stamina.

There's just far too much of a DPS loss when trying to use both pools equally.

I'd say its the other way round.

The meta is max dps. Reason for that is nearly every "mechanic" being a dps check to bypass mechanics (not called enrage here).

When mechanics r dps checks and there r leaderboards for a timer, there is no such thing as "viable". There is only meta.

To make hybrids "viable" in that meta, u need to up their dps to be "meta", making all other builds nonmeta and thus nonviable.

In order to make every possible "build" viable, u need mechanics allowing/requiring "creative" builds and leaderboards asking for other things than completion times.

iirr (was morrowind pts when i last experimented with hybrids) to get the stats right on a hybrid u need to be able to spend around 1600 cp (to get crit and pen up to acceptable levels).

I think it would just make strong classes even stronger

Honestly, they should probably just trash the ability to spend points across multiple Attributes in favor of a system of "specializing" in a single Attribute, given how pointless it is to even have the option to spend points across multiple Attributes in the first place.

Otherwise, they should develop a solution that allows hybrid builds to actually work rather than having it "All in One Always" like it is currently, although that may literally be impossible to balance.

I would love to be able to sacrifice part of my Magicka pool for stamina to use a two hander and still be competitive on my sorcerer. It would allow me to not have to play ranged all the time.

Having played other MMOs.... I find the chance of people NOT chasing the "new meta" vanishingly slim.

..and once again, a poll without any Other option...

I think that this would reduce diversity, because many would try to make the same "best" one-size-fits-all builds..

Well.... that's basically the same as "It would only create a new meta" etc.

Set a max limit on any one stat, say 40, and force people to put it into another stat, you wouldn't solve the problem but it would make hybrids more viable.
