No More CP increases

Just announced. Starting with Elswyr there will be no more increases to halt power creep.

Since edit is being a brat: I really disagree. I believe there should be a substantial way to address the creep, not taking a sledge hammer to the problem and preventing people from leveling up.

So no more cp increase? That’s extremely absurd. People who cry about cp are just low levels who don’t want to grind like literally everyone else did 🙄

For the foreseeable future. The CP system is being reassessed.

Rubbish. Endlessly having every DLC making players more powerful by virtue of increasing the CP cap was never sustainable or sensible.

Personally I am pleased Zos is finally looking at developing a vision for combat in this game. After 5 years it is about time.

It gets tiring that they make big changes and do not think things through. Anyone who was in game at the launch of CP is aware that the original CP cap was the full 3600 points and Zos stated they expected the average player to reach that cap in less than 2 years. That is a prime example that they have not thought things through.

Hopefully they actually do develop this vision and it means more than when they have used that word before.

I think they need to get rid of CP completely or be able to spend excess CP over cap on stuff like a CP store if there not going to increase the cap anymore.

And you wanted what? To have the newer players come in later on and have to grind 2000 CPs to be competitive later on? Lock them out of every new content unless they grind to the new cap?

They are well aware it'd start to become too intimidating to newer players while causing a constant balancing issues as new content would have to be balanced between both no CP and max CP players, resulting in incredibly easy overland difficulty for max CP players while having content that is a pain to complete if not most of your group has a decent amount of CPs themselves.

Not to mention that the CP has been draining a lot of power from the classes themselves, which itself was one of the many causes of the Morrowind nerfs. This flat power increase is a generic and boring one, when there are many more possibilities that could be implemented, be it QoL features, cosmetic effects for abilities, small added effects like the CP stars at certain ranks and such which can change how you actually play, instead of "you have +X/Y/Z of A/B/C stats".

The time to reach max CP has gone down over the years. It’s quicker and easier to reach 810 CP now than it was to reach 510 CP 2 1/2 years ago.

I would not consider CP to be "leveling up" in any sense of the concept. All it has done is caused power creep and extreme toxicity as far as groups and dungeons go. Even they seem to be a thinking that the system needs a redo or a new system is needed.

I think getting halting CP is a good first step.

Come on now the CP system was ALWAYS flawed, let them change it to make it better they have to do something with it.
Halt CP raise for the minute then change the system when ready.

LOL here we go again, just like VR. Trust me either CP raises sometime this year or we get a new levling system which in effect will be the same thing with a different name.

The exact same thing happened with VR. No MMORPG can survive without some kind if vertical levleing and there is no way a company will take away what people have spent years earning away unless they want the game to die.

I say it again, either CP will increase or we just get a different but the same leveling system.

Really? I honestly wish I would stop gaining more CP then, degrading enough having 800 CP and counting that I will never be able to use...nice kick in the balls. >_>'

The whole point of an mmorpg expansion is to get new gear and level up MORE....apparently ESO is no longer an mmorpg and now just a single player game with a shared world and a few "group" events. Pathetic and sad.

You'r wrong mate. GW2 prove themself that is totally possible to lock endless gear grind and also lock lv cap.
And GW2 is an amazing game with lot of player and they still release good new content.

Endless grind is a very bad habit from old mmo.

Good. Next they should get rid of levels altogether and make progression all about collecting new skill lines or morphs by completing challenges. There were roleplaying games like this. It wasn't always about just making X number bigger.
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

No the maths don't work like that it scales, so the max takes same amount of xp to get.

Even ESO is proof of that. I haven't met a single endgame player that cared about CP progression.

The majority are way over the cap already any way. And for those that aren't, it takes just 2-3 hours to get there every time they increase it.

Progression in this game = completing new veteran content and obtaining new BiS gear.

It seems they want to be even worse, I would not call it a single player. Should they remove vert prog all ESO will be is a JRPG point and click minus the jiggly animation..

    Doomed for failure.

Some people are motivated by goals. Whether you call them levels or completing challenges, they are the same. Where the disagreement seems to be is that some people seem to want a cap on skills/abilities and some people like a sense that they can continually progress. Runners are always trying to shave seconds from their times. Weight lifters are always trying to lift more weight. The idea that a gamer wants to keep getting stronger/better strikes me as a normal desire. If you can provide that sense of accomplishment through other means than leveling or power increases, I will be satisfied. If not, I'll be unmotivated to play.

Tell me, how many no CP toons do you raid with? Somehow I think CP matters in your search for BiS and I suspect without at least CP 320 your vet content would be a real problem to complete.
