Crash on launch

When I open the launcher and press play, the game flashes a black screen then I get a "ESO has stopped working" crash,

I tried reinstalling the game
repairing the game
stopping firewall/antivirus
deleting and reinstalling nvidia experience
running as admin
running eso64

none of it worked, I submitted a ticket and got a copy and paste response telling me to try what I already said i tried, does anyone know a fix for this?

Your support ticket#180527-001337 is still open and will receive further follow-up.

In addition, you should try rebooting your PC into a selective startup and then see if the game will launch afterwards. If it does, it would indicate the crash is being caused by a conflict with another program that is running.

@HexWood Can't tell if your situation is the same as what's described here, but this thread was 3 of us with i9-7980XE CPUs. Links to other posts where the fix (the changes to UserSettings.txt) was described are in this thread. I went round-and-round with ZOS support for 5 days and they never discussed this, but here it was all along.

I tried everything you guys suggested, sadly it still didn't work, and still no real response from the ticket,

so what exactly happens is, I open the launcher and click play, the screen goes black for a second and this crash appears

I get this same crash no matter what I do, since the support ticket doesnt seem to be going anywhere and everyone says the tickets never help, ill put my faith in the forums, if you guys cant help then I guess I just can't play

@HexWood Exactly the same problem I had, and the UserSettings.txt changes fixed it, once I could get Steam working again.

@trem3c I dont have it on steam I have the eso launcher, also unless I'm looking in the wrong place, I don't actually have a UserSettings.txt my Documents-ElderScrollsOnline-live is full of empty folders and no UserSettings.txt

Here's what's working for me:

1) Uninstall nVidia experience, just use drivers, phys, etc.
2) Rename or Delete ZoCrashReporter.exe, and try to run game again...
3) If it crashes examine MS app crash pop-up...
4) If it mentions C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\CoProcManager\nvd3d9wrapx.dll then Rename it to something like nvd3d9wrapx.dll.bak and try to run game again.

We had exactly same issue on some mac running more than 1 multicore process :

It works now! turns out my problem was the UserSettings.txt not actually existing, I had to create my own and put it in the live folder

so many hours spent trying to fix something I didn't have in the first place.

My game has just finished the update but now it crashes every time I want to start and I don't know why... Any help pls?
