So if I have over 5k hours of playtime on my main I suddenly am lazy because I dont feel like starting all over again? Wow

Yes. New class, new character. Been this way in every good (and even 99.9% of bad games)

What part of "takes years to accomplish" did you not understand? We don't care about having battle-ready characters AT ALL. We have 14 alts for this. we just want our mains to be enjoyable again because WE CARE about those characters.
For the last time... It's not laziness. It's something entirely different, hence why we're suggesting a requirement like Cadwell's gold or yearly cooldown.
It's ironic that we have people commenting on laziness, while they never even bother to read the whole OP.
Holy cheese.

For me it would be a statement of me having mastered the world of Tamriel (completing Cadwell gold) and thus proving I could take on a new challenge since one chapter was ending it would open up more of the game to that dedicated character. And since zos monetized player participation in events, monetizing tokens at 5k would be a fair price for such a time sink. As someone with 15 characters and one main I think this achievement of furthering mastering the world around you would be meaningful.

Exactly! I quoted your previous post and added this as a proposed baseline requirement too @Sheezabeast. I thought it was excellent.
Of course it is, because you're puzzled at the apparent required repetition of Undaunted, etc that @ATomiX96 mentions above. Your concern is about time frame, and the time frame has been provided.Merlin13KAGL wrote: »You can be functional in ~100 hours, and you only have to do it once (per character). You'd actually bother doing everything all over again? How much time do you have on your hands...
Nobody is talking about being or not being functional. It would take you years to grind all achievements and doing every single world event and quest in the game.
This thread isn't about making endgame functional alts at all. But rather keeping all you've done on a character that you care about.
This isn't about me either. I'm doing this very same thing on EU because I can't play on NA anymore. I miss my character and I know it will take forever.

You have a dog, you like it, you lived with it for quite a while and has grown attached to it.
You dog got hurt, had one leg incapacitated, he now has a mechanical wheel for movement and can barely play with you.
But then you come across a way to make him fix his leg, but apparently everyone says you should get a new puppy, since it takes no time for it to grow and become a dog. Just scrap the old one and get a fresh start.
Got it now?

If it's not about functional, but merely about total achievements, then doing every achievement in game is far from necessary on a new alt.
You can have your main for your achievements and still have an alt, as well. They're not mutually exclusive unless you choose for them to be.
The choice to clear every achievement in the game is just that, a choice. Having another class available does not prevent you from doing this on one or more characters.
Introduction of the new class does not somehow prevent your original character from achieving anything. Your argument does not apply.
It's called your "main" for a reason. A new class does not (have to) change this.
You lose a bit of playtime on your main. That's it. There is nothing in the game that can't be accomplished over the life of your character, with plenty of time to spare for an alt (or the other way around.) This holds true no matter how much playtime you do (or don't) have, as I seriously doubt they're producing content faster than anyone is able to consume it.

No, it's certainly not. Again, this is the same counterargument why is should not be an option. It's about earned progress that you cannot replicate on a fresh character in less than a year (or couple).
It's not hard to understand.
