Don't do steam. PLEASE. Just don't. Buy the game from ZOS. Steam.... is not a great option at all. A friend told me to go with steam to begin with. Lord it was a problem - couldn't get logged in, if I did couldn't stay logged in. Had to get with ZOS CS to figure out how to get around the crap - and also had to buy the game from ZOS again (it was on sale for 10 bucks, but I would have at that point paid WHATEVER just to be able to play....)

You can get a digital code from ZOS, don't need a disk. Hopefully..... you have plenty of bandwidth....

I've never used consoles, so have no idea about controllers. But I have friends who've ALWAYS used controller options with the PC version. How they do that, I don't know. But likely there are people around here who can point you in the right direction.

    Welcome to addons!

Thank you! I am so excited, you have no idea. Im looking forward to the addons, but to be honest I am stoked about the performance. For the PC players that have never played console, if you ever get a chance, try it. Lag and performance is horrendous. I cant wait to get logged in!

My problem with steam is that
    A. it gives an additional login gateway which breaks semi regularly meaning you can't play even when others can
    B. You're forced to download the game twice, once from steam and then again from ESO. Backing up the files in steam and restoring from backup is a ridiculous round robin of yep, 2 sets of game files.
    C. Paying for ESO+subs on steam can be delayed or not go through properly (so I've heard. I'm non sub myself)

There's no technical difference between buying it on disk and buying digital, just make sure the disk doesn't require a steam login to proceed (I bought digital so no idea how the disk version works lol). It will save some download time, but there have been so many patches/releases since the disk was published, there's going to be a lot of downloading anyway.

Oh hey - I've always played PC (uh..... NO use for consoles, sorry) but my gameplay is - um - seriously gimped because the only connection I have is satellite.

So.... yeah.... lag is what I have. SERIOUS lag.... 2000 ms + lag....

Welcome to a new obsession! Serious. I expect you will eventually think "OMG what have I DONE". But don't let it get to you. The addons will make your in game life easier to manage.

And other than addons, it's the same game you played on console. Happy New Year!

The big deciding factor for me to go ahead and do it, was because I already know the game, and I know how to play. At 1020 something odd champion points. Farming gear wont be so bad, the addons will really help with the mages guild lore book hunt. I know the mechanics of maelstrom and its just a matter of getting to 300 cp to start farming it. I just hope I don't run into people who will shun me from running trials to farm gear because Im not max cp on here.

I made the switch about a year ago, still grinding out CP, but don't regret it at all.

[*] Do NOT get the game from steam
[*] Addons are awesome and really make the game more enjoyable since the game lacks even rudimentary things like crafting multiple potions
[*] lag and fps drops are still there even on pc and quite bad in some trials and in pvp
[*] get minion for managing your Addons
[*] even if you have a really strong pc set some settings down when you raid
[*] Doing random dungeons and bg helps a lot with grinding exp

      Useful addons:
      • Action duration reminder: really awesome minimalistic addon to track your buffs/dots/skills
      • map pins: nice addon for psijic grind, mag guild grind, and anything else
      • multi craft:
      • Craftstore: addon for crafting - an overview of learned styles, traits,.. interface for cooking and enchantments...
      • potion maker: interface for alchemy station
      • inventory inside: shows the inventory of all your characters
      • alpha gear: save your gear+skills and change with 1 click
      • combat metric: DPS meter
      • raidnotifier: must for raiding
      • votan searchbox: search your inventory
      • awesome guild store: better guild store interface
      • Bandits ui: a nice UI with many features
      • BeamMEup: an addon to port to players from guilds if you want to port for free

Thank you for mentioning our Addon BeamMeUp. Glad you see it as useful.
We try to implement an option for active quest zone before the next Quest-Event starts wich should be very useful for a lot players as well. And we have still some other improvements on our list.

Just as the title says, I have played Xbox one since the day the game launched. I will be starting a new job on the 26th, in which my yearly income is going to triple.

Congratulations. I hope everything works out well for you.
I do have some questions and concerns tho, I heard that mouse and keyboard is the best way to go, but I have some other friends who now play on PC say they use an xbox controller, as you can install the drivers for the controller and run it wired to your rig. Do any of you guys do that?

I started on PC, HATED keyboard and mouse and then went to Xbox when it finally came. I have gone back to PC now because I just use my Xbox One controller, plug it in, no downloading anything. Works EXACTLY like Xbox One. ALSO, the layout is EXACTLY the same as well. If you do not use controller and keyboard and mouse, the layout is a little different. I could never get use to the keyboard and mouse layout so stick to Xbox mode as I call it. All you have to do is go into your settings and select controller otherwise you can't use it.

Best thing is you can even remind everything on the controller do your preference if you wanted. All I did was add "auto walk" on the start button being held, X button being held to withdraw weapon and B button being held to access inventor/stats/what not since I keep getting confused in Fallout/TES games lol.

There is also going to be a lot of learning for me to do. Its well known that console does not have any add ons. I would not know where to even start on which ones I should get, or even how to put them on my machine. Any advice? There are some things that I am excited for. I will love the buff trackers, especially for my nightblade tracking my dots and my buffs, and the way the game runs in general. On Xbox frame rate and lag has always been an issue. In trials frame rates on the XBOX1 have always been crap. I thought it was my internet connection when I first started raiding, but its a widespread issue with XB1. Some people have it better than others, better ISPs, geographical locations, better hardware XBOX1s, etc.....but its still not as a good experience as the pc guys have, such as frame rates.

Get what you want. All I ever wanted was a map on screen and use that. If you are into fishing get one of those as well.
I truly look forward to playing with some of you PC guys soon!

Maybe one day I will see you. I am getting back to Xbox ESO as well. So playing both. If you ever want to get rid of anything on Xbox I can trade for you if you like. I don't have much to offer since I play very causally, but wouldn't mind trying to trade or take things from you that you will not use. :P
Not my quote but I love this saying

"I would pay It for support. But since they choosed we are just numbers and not customers, i dont mind if game and zos goes to oblivion"
