Bsw and mothers sorrow are the best and that just depends on class.

Naturally trial sets and spell strategist are better.

BSW is the better choice. Mother’s sorrow is only better in trial optimized groups where the up-time of crit damage and change multipliers are higher.

Julianos is the better choice for not top-end players as keeping the up-time of BSW might be tricky to take advantage of the proc when it is active.

If you are killing single target enemies spell strategist is also a good choice.

Since some people obviously can't read I would choose BSW as a good alternative dungeon set. Having BSW, Julianos and MS in your bank doesn't hurt. When I started and had no one to run COA1 with, I just zoned in and farm the chests in the beginning area. Spinners is ok but for PVE you really want some crit or dmg proc as you are alrdy getting spell pen from the light armor 5 piece passive.

why isn't Treasure Hunter better than Mother's Sorrow if u don't use a source of Major Prophecy? it has like extra 120 spell power. On a magnb for example is good, and on other classes too if they don't use a source of this buff.

Just use spell power pots. Makes treasure hunter set irrelevant.

If you have a maelstrom staff and can only front bar one of these sets then I would go with BSW, since the proc carries over to the back bar. Mother’s sorrow needs to be double barred for the most effectiveness. Havent tried scathing mage, but seems like it could be strong as well. If no maelstrom then double bar BSW and mother’s sorrow. Spinner’s insnt terrible but in organized groups you will be over penetrating. Elegant set isnt terrible either, along with julianos, but again, need double barring for most effectiveness.

People can do 30k+ dps with non trial sets so why do people insist others use trial sets? its childish behavior.

BSW if only if you're mag dk otherwise it's useless julianos is better and consistence compare to it.

Generally speaking, any set that provides a major/minor buff as its primary bonus isn't worth using. Those buffs can be obtained from a variety of places, and they don't stack.

So sets like Treasure Hunter, Dreugh King Slayer, Slimecraw, Rattlecage, and the like aren't really that useful to most players.

Chudan is one of the few outliers here. Technically the buffs are easy to obtain, but it can be useful for a tank in certain builds.

Beyond this, there's also a few exceptions. Sets like Master Architect and War Machine provide a buff (Major Slayer) that is nearly impossible to obtain normally. So those can be valuable to anyone. Vicious Ophidian is another, though the Major Expidition buff isn't really the point of the set, you could be forgiven for seeing it and thinking it was another example of this.

Also sets that apply debuffs, like Wizard's Reposte, Infallable Aether, or Durok's Bane can be useful in certain situations, as they provide a consistent means of debuffing a foe. Even if you can replicate this with a specific skill, the set may be more useful for getting that out there.

Julianos and Mother's Sorrow works very well for me.
