more people in queue than people playing

doesn't this raise some questions?

usually there are 2-3 bars played, now not only lock but also over 300 people in queue. Any (decent) hour, any alliance. At the hour of this post writing, every single campaign has locks on all alliances.
Why do so many people play during an event? is that double AP really that attractive? it's attractive that more people are online? all who play this much now, really like just hoarding at the best time available?

doesn't this mean that non-event AP rewards are too low? or are too high during the event? it's too big of a difference of people playing during or not during an event. Hard to believe there are event lurkers on this game that only come to play during an event, which is hardly a reason to play a game.

Noooooot necessarily. The people only doing a single Midyear-eligible quest for their event tickets aren't going to be clogging the queue because they're not going to be in there that long. And a lot of people are opting to go the BG route instead, skipping Cyrodiil altogether.

OP, yes, the double AP is a huge draw for a lot of people, particularly those who dislike or outright hate PvP but need Caltrops/Vigor/Warhorn/Guard for their builds. It's also a huge boon to people who are collecting AP to buy the more expensive Militant Ordinator and Akaviri chapters with AP instead of gold. Aaaaand people who use AP to buy Gold Jewelry from the vendors every week to flip for gold are also going to be going farm-crazy since they'll be able to buy more stuff to sell during Midyear.

Also getting decent XP and some supplies which might help consumable supply is kind of nice. I doubt that plays a part on the people who usually dont pvp.

In 2 days I was able to get enough AP on 11 characters to have each of them receive end of campaign rewards from a 30 day campaign (5 of them at tier 3). I probably could have done it with 15 characters in that time if I had been a little bit more dedicated.

It's the most efficient way to earn loads of Transmute Crystals. That's a big draw for me.

Of course, when I feel like I'm going to be running low on Transmute Crystals and there isn't a double AP event coming up, I'll still put in the effort to get some characters to tier 1 end of campaign rewards, but it's a lot quicker and easier with a double AP event, so I'll definitely take advantage of that.

The thing about double AP events is that not only do you earn twice as much AP for each objective/kill/etc, but also because there are so many more people PVPing it's a lot quicker & easier to find sieges and battles to join in on. When there's no event going on and I'm trying to earn AP in Cyrodiil then at certain times of the day it can be very hard to find any action, and I basically have to resort to taking resources solo, which is not a very quick way to earn AP.

Note: I'm very much a PVE player. I do sometimes find PVP to be a lot of fun (case in point: I've generally been having a blast in Cyrodiil since Thursday), but overall it's not really my thing.

@UrQuan yes i do that too but i noticed that instead of waiting 1-2 hours in queue, i'd rather get to tier 1 when i can join instantly. Getting to tier 1 won't take more than 30 minutes, and i'd better stay 1 hour to get to tier 1 when it's not the event, rather than staying 1-2 hours in que and staying 30 mins to get tier 1.
