Just a fun mind play. So if you bought the 2 companies making these 2 games. What would you take from one of them and leave from the other?

I'd take all the people that insist on bringing the one game into the others' forum posts and kick them out of both.

WTF does there always have to be a comparison?
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

I cannot think of anything in WoW I would want added to ESO.

Wow was fine for the time is was released. However, combat in ESO is far superior. Graphics, character design, and so much more separate the two as well,

ESO is the better game imo. With that said, WoW has better end game content. I prefer the PvP from WoW, not a fan of the whole XvXvX nonsense in battlegrounds, and i would love if ESO added arenas. Mythic raids > vet trials, and pve combat design in general is better in WoW. There's also the fact that 99% of the cosmetic items in WoW are obtained in-game.

I would make the world much in eso much larger like in wow and add more classes and races to eso. But eso has way better graphics and lore making it a much better story and fun to play. Also eso can be played on more than one platform and has the potential to have cross platform play one day. Wow does not.

I would take eso combat styles. No cooldowns, ultimates, regens light attacks. And implant them into WoW lore , cartoonishness. I would also lose the idea of seasons in wow for instance based gear sets that scale to level.

One change that I REALLY believe in ESO on is the scaling of all gear de tdd s they implemented. AWESOME CHANGE. WoW needs to do the same. If they did...I'd be gone from eso

I'm just going to replace WoW with other MMO I've played because OP seems to be confused and doesn't realize other MMO exist besides ESO and WoW

    mostly a pvp perspective
    TERA
Action Combat (the game's pvp is superior in almost every way)
    Corsair's Stronghold style battleground
PvP depth even without build system (mostly by charms and crystals slotted to gears)
gear that can be customized (path of exile is very expansive with this)
    portable campfires
    flying mounts
    open world pvp everywhere
    can't respawn in deathmatch
    some 4 v 4 and 3 v 3 bg where it's not as big a map
world bosses that move about on the map
actual combos (requires cooldowns and their associated rhythm)
    Silkroad Online
Thieves vs Hunters and Traders, triangular combat trade routes and incentive to leave cities other than to do instance and grind
make instances feel less like they're breaking the 4th wall. this includes ceasing to have every dungeon and battleground queueable from a menu. it does wonders for immersion.
Only 2 stats STR and INT stat (HP/MP), governing the 3 pools. the point system seems to be too absolute for a pool that is constantly filling and draining.
    open world pvp everywhere
world bosses that move about on the map and draw multiple parties of people
    Runescape
    alloying/crafting system
economy: only game where I actually participated in a live marketplace outside of Varrock Bank.
mining done in mines (as well as random spots)
no loading screens between world zones
    epic quests

restoring my soul is great and all but it seems like a box I would need to check just to begin the journey into Tamriel.
Things common to multiple MMO that ESO neglects
More than 6 skills available to cast at once
SOME FORM OF COOLDOWN. it doesn't need to be a hard limit, but it ties in with above suggestion. one of the reasons we're limited to 6 skills is to create the illusion of 'rock paper scissors' and because we have 0 CD. the end result is that we drown in mechanics we can't counter and the allowance of builds that border on exploitation because unless you're building to counter everything without being able to do anything else, it will be impossible to fight.
pots not having linked CDs even when they do completely different stuff
having an HP pot trigger the MP pot CD only serves to force people to spend ludicrous sums of already inflated currency on tri restoration pots
not spamming players with junk rewards I'll get 100 hundred times over and only ever deconstruct and sell, when there is highly limited space in inbox and inventory

Random ideas that other MMOs don't need to worry about because they're not as ambitious or just do stuff in a sane manner
some kind of diversity to abilities...similar to request to add more than 6 skills per bar, but willing to take literally any other solution including a way to modify how the skill is casted in real time
include a way to build for sustain and speed ... other than recovery enchantments and sets that give expedition.
CC immunity removed when casting execute. defending when you're below 50% HP is way harder than it should be because if you proc their CC invuln too early, you're dead, if you proc it too late you're dead.
    larger world
better AI that figures out when NPC are ganked and investigates
    guards that can die
    werewolf HP nerf to 50%
fewer diseases that give massive benefits without permanent consequences
    General QoL
able to interact with menus and chat during loading screens
more ways to interact with world
more puzzles and pattern matching in dungeon. dungeon is just an elongated instance that you must do in serial, there is nothing unique about them that requires thought. the mechanics are boring.
get a team of people who know how to DnD or design mazes/puzzles (like in Portal) and have them release a new dungeon every two months or so that actually is fun to do with a group of friends because it requires multiple styles of thinking in order to pass.

all forms of gathering feel identical in ESO

no shame in taking lessons from cookie clicker
people actually find that to be engaging...if ZoS can integrate that kind of interactivity into the game smoothly that'd be sweet.

Eh, never played WoW, still, ESO looks meh in comparison to majority of the games I played, but currently it's only game in the market which includes everything in one package (action, RP, graphics, lore, MMO, some balance and common sense). WoW graphics are awful.. maybe for a wow veteran it's ok, but how any new player get used to that - i don't know.

If PVE, PVP and in game cosmetics are all better in WOW how does ESO end up being the better game?

I agree on the cosmetic and mount part, would like this added as an additional thing on top of skins/titles but those come with a guaranteed drop, cosmetics/mounts come with a low rate but give it repeat value and re-sell opportunities
Other than that ping/FPS is much more stable in wow for me so I’d love that however I’m guessing that’s more down to the graphics being a hell of a lot better in ESO than WoW

WoW has been one of the most stable MMO games (I've played it for 15+ years) when it comes to performance and latency. If I could only take one thing from WoW, I would take that.

    My list

    Graphics: ESO
    World: ESO
    Quests: ESO
    Dungeons: ESO/WoW (split)
    Raids: WoW
    Gameplay: ESO
    Crafting: ESO
    Performance, stability and latency: WoW
Store and microtransactions: WoW (there is too much focus on the crown store, that isn't the case for WoW)
    PvP: WoW
    Music: ESO
    Collectibles: WoW
    Content difficulty: WoW
    Classes: WoW
    Races/Racials: ESO
    Level progression: ESO
Character customization: ESO (WoW butchered this with their homogenisation)

If you had asked me about this 10 years ago (hypothetically, as ESO didn't exist at that point in time), I would have taken more from WoW. I do feel that WoW has been on a decline the last 6+ years, and it's not the game I fell in love with anymore. As it looks right now, I enjoy ESO more, with the exception of the performance, which is also the reason I've taken breaks from ESO multiple times.

mind you I haven't maxed out my CP yet sitting at 559 now when 810 rolls around I will take a spin thru group content but for now I am enjoying the relaxed atmosphere here in Tamriel

The bank/auction house interface from wow is pretty good, while eso's is terribly bad both in terms of design and performance, and bugged by incredibly annoying delays especially in prim timee. Who here loves "waiting for previous request" and similar errors when trying to use guild banks or guild traders to either post or buy items?

ESO's combat and flexible roles and build systems is awesome on the other hand and I would not trade it with the strict builds and roles system in wow.

    I agree mostly.
IMO classes are better in ESO as far as we can build them from draft, that is more interesting roleplay-wise. Still, these self-made "classes" would be funnier if they actually worked in the content, which is sometimes quite frustrating... So... So-so.

Housing : ESO, even if it's way too much bound to the Store stuff even for subbers
(Simply because WoW didn't even consider it at all, sadly)

Lore : both. ESO is more grounded/relatable to this day, while WoW is on the "wtf but who cares!" side for quite some years.

Story : ESO by far. But it's not exactly the same public (12+ / 16-18+)

    Mounts : WoW.
(In WoW each race have its own mount. In ESO you have a horse even if you play khajiit or argonian or dunmer... and when you want a mount that fits, then you must buy it in the Store. It's a shame...)

    Transmog/Outfit : WoW
(because of the advance - 14 years of armour and weapons skins against 5 for ESO - and it is affordable, in-game gold)

I personally did not enjoy WoW. I do not like its cartoonish graphics. Didn't care for many of the platers either although one of my best friends enjoyed it. My best advice is that if that is your type of game then you should quickly leave here and go play it.
