Question of increased spell damage with dual wield

Can somebody explain, on my mag sorc, with 5 piece bonus on mother's sorrow, why i get a little over 400 more spell damage with 2 mother's sorrow daggers than a mother's sorrow lightning staff? Everything is gold and has same enchant. Enchant are absorb magical, other 5 piece set is Julianos. All other stats stay within 17 for magica recovery and 500 more max magicka with flame staff on front bar.

DW has always given stat sheet more damage because of twin blade and blunt passive iirc.

Is it just a start, or does it actually increase the spell damage in actual use?

There used to be noticeably higher damage using x2 swords and also before 2 handers only gave 1 armour slot you could have x2 5 pieces and a monster set so it was beneficial.
Now with LA from a staff being so strong and adding so much DPS and 2 handers giving 2 slots, there is little point in running DW on mag characters, however some people im sure make it work and it depends on your play style.
