We don't know yet. They're only teasing bits. I don't really expect things to change materially though.... not like WoW after Cataclysm for instance.

There are probably 12 threads at least about this. Try a search - others may have more info. Or at least more off the wall speculation.

Perhaps ZOS is finally dropping support for PvP and focusing on making a decent game instead of fruitlessly chasing class balance on what is basically two separate games.

Don't hold your breath. You might expire, and then I'd miss you. Where have you been lately anyway?

Cyrodiil being pretty much the exact same it was on release day 5 years ago is really poor from ZOS tbh

That "war" NEEDS something huge to change

Yes, it might be some changes next DLC or expansion.

I see some chance they change how factions works a bit, perhaps letting you swap faction but having other locks instead.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Why do they allow multiple threads about this, but they start closing lag/performance threads lol. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if ZOS did actually end it and give the PvE children their safe space.

Nothing childish about wanting to explore a properly fleshed out PvE Cyrodiil.

Namecalling an entire group of people "children", however, is quite childish.

The war may end. This will not affect PVP. Remember Molag Bal? He is defeated, yet all the dolmens are still here.

I play just for pvp and have subbed for 3yrs and know plenty more that do the same.

Why is it pve'rs are so adamant about doing away with a part of the game many enjoy? Selfishness, maybe?

    @MajBludd

Nobody will take PVP away. You'll have your Cyrodiil just as it is now. We have a dragonbreak, and this means that Cyrodiil can be both in a war - the one we have now, and in peace - even as a PVE only instance. Two Cyrodiils. Dragondreak.

If they have a pve only cyro to explore, provided it has none of the achievements or ap tied to it. I wouldn't mind to see that myself.
What bothers me is how many people outright want pvp removed for selfish reasons.

As a gaming community we should be supporting each other, not pushing for the elimination of the game features we enjoy, right?

Why would PVE people want PVP to be removed? I'm a PVE player. I don't care what people are doing in Cyrodiil. I just don't go there. I just hope one day Cyrodiil and Imperial City will receice a PVE "copy". Without any achievements, AP and other things, of course.
Anyway, even if some people want PVP to be gone, who cares? ZOS will never do this.

Nothing. Why would they scrap an entire part of their game and lose thousands of players?

well as a PvE player I feel that PvP balance has ruined many PvE aspects and devs are too scared to balance things in PvE so as not to ruin PvP and still PvP is still and unbalanced lagfest, balancing PvE is much easier than balancing PvP and if PvP is removed the PvE experience can be greatly improved.

Not saying PvP should be removed but I wouldnt mind as a PvE if PvP is removed.

Aslo cyrodil is an amazing zone and has so much great locations from Oblivion, its a shame that you have to run around for hours to get anywhere and hope you dont get ganked or zerged

I would hope that they'd leave instanced PVP Cyrodiil as it is, and release a full-fledged PVE Cyrodiil zone (possibly as a new chapter), centered around post-war rebuild and restoration of Empire. There's no reason why those two shouldn't exist concurrently - and frankly, it's a waste to have such a huge, beautiful zone dedicated solely to a small percentage of players.

Maybe there ending the 3 banner war, thus ending cyrodiil as a pvp zone and turning it pve, but creating a new pvp zone that is balanced seperately from pve, making it 2 sides only rather than 3, and locking it till the end of campaign, but who knows.

Though i am mainly a pve player, i actually like the pvp and spend many a day in cyrodiil when i mean to do dungeons etc, i for one would be rather annoyed if they remove pvp from the game, even though im a pve child.

@Sylvermynx Playing nodded Skyrim, Smash, and BotW because I feel no incentive to play anymore when Sorcerer can barely function as a PvE DPS due to running out of magicka after about 2-3 minutes since PvE is my forté. The PvP is good but if I wanted a PvP experience I could play basically any other game with far less lag...namely Smash or League, although Smash's lag is no better online.

More people play for PvE, when you include all the casuals that can barely use a skill (remember they're paying too).

Even if storywise the three banners war ends it doesn't mean PvP Cyrodiil will end just as there are still dolmens in game after Molag Ball is defeated.

Maybe no changes to Cyrodiil but perhaps a non PVP IC? Do many people actually go to IC right now outside of events? Seems IC is an underused part of the game. Perhaps making it an area to explore without the PVP aspect would bring new life to the area.

This. I don’t expect Zeni to ever be dumb enough to *remove* Cyro pvp, but I’d be out of here permanently if they did

Like many have already posted, nobody really knows how AvA PvP will change or if it will even be changed to begin with.

What I think is that the "end of the war" will be something like in the main quest with the armistace. The three leaders met and agreed to a temporary end to the war. But immediately after completing the quest the player can queue up for Cyrodiil, capture the map and become emperor. I think it will be an end to the war on paper only. Not in practice.

What I hope the change will be is a creative solution to the many problems that currently plauge AvA. Any change that rewards strategical thinking, skill, and/or faction loyalty while keeping within the lore and tone of the story would be better than what we have now - pvdoor, pvlag, and pvapathy. But those are just my thoughts as a player who has lived in AvA since the beginning, sees the potential of the experience, and who hopes that changes - if any - are not gimmicks.

It would be nice if they still kept the original Cyrodiil that we know as a PVP zone but also create a new version of it that is PVE and have it take place after Molag Bal has been defeated and his invasion has ended. I think that'd make both PVP'ers and PVE'ers happy. And think of the story content that would bring. You'd get to see the White-Gold Tower without the giant Dark Anchor above it and it's up to you and your fellow players to kill off the remaining Daedra and restore order to Cyrodiil. Think of the different world bosses they could have in such a huge zone, and new dungeons too perhaps, outside of the Imperial City. Just the thought of it gets me all excited.

History, like a human being, is thirsty when it wakes from its slumber…History wants to drink up an enormous amount of blood. And even if history has tired of drinking blood, that’s only in regards to the amount. But what about quality? The larger the sacrifice is, the more delighted the cruel gods will be.
