Spell Crafting Means Nothing Unless We Get More Bar Slots

    No, not really. There won't be more slots in the future. Don't expect it to come as it wouldn't make much sense. 5+1 slots was a design choice that's fundamentally attached to this game.

    Making use of the "arrow buttons" on any controller is a pain. It's barely working for weapon swap, that's already very, very clunky. And you want to place skills on them for a regular use? No way.

    Actually controllers are not that limited, FFXIV can place what, 30, 40 skills at once on the controller. ESO could do something similar if they wanted to but there is simply not the desire to change the 5+1 design.

    Also the title of the bethesda stream was "tablets", and in the quakecon video the way you get spell crafting is by finding and inscribing various tablets. Also notice the tablet is broken, in the video he says that you'll need to find parts of each tablet typically 2 or 3 pieces and put them together.

    Omg so hard to fight back the hype train... I want to believe so bad...

    Why has a necromancer and several other items been data mined, but I have yet to see one piece about spellcrafting. Wouldn't they have data mined that as well?

    There's actually more data mined stuff about spellcrafting than necromancers, but it's from last year or older.

    Yes, they also said they were pretty much scrapping spell crafting a few years back.

    If they make it, it will probably be similar to how poisons work. Add it in place of enchants, etc.

    If anything hasn't been recently data mined, I would be really surprised to see it at all.

    I guess we will all know soon enough. Hopefully, they do come through with it for those that would like to see it.

    If they added spellcrafting with new slots, wouldn’t 99% of people just make passive bonuses? The power creep would get insane if everyone could slot free major berserk/prophecy/brutality/protection etc etc.

    I suppose that would open up some slots on your bar for other skills since some wouldnt be mandatory now, however I personally don’t see this being good for the game.

    Here's the simplest way to respond to this.... Console game pads. There simply aren't enough buttons for those players to utilize 14 slots. I actually have a few sorcs, and tbh, I hated the third bar. It was clumsy and in the fast pace of PvP, it usually didn't work well enough to warrant it's use. Very few players were any good with it. I would love to see spellcrafting, don't get me wrong. Just don't think they'll make any UI changes for extra buttons.

    Thats why we could also just have a spell crafting bar that consists of 5 slottable spellcrafted abilities and a spellcrafted ultimate. Would only need to add one additional keybind and then everything else is the same as those abilities just take the keybinds of the others since you bar swapped.

    I play with a controller, we have enough slots...if you want to cycle through more abilities, add a 3rd bar, but honestly, more slots isnt going to help anything...more slots doesnt add diversity, it just makes rotations harder to manage....when you build a character your diversity comes from your selected abilities...more slots would make your character MORE generic, not less.

    You are assuming Spell Crafting means additional Skills. A mighty assumption that I have my doubts about.

    I foresee this as a new way to alter the existing skills.

    What's the evidence that it's coming?

    No Evidence At All.

    People see the tablet in the trailer and are associating it with a tablet which was shown in a QuakeCon announcement when they were considering Spell Crafting for the game.

    If you look at them, do honestly look similar in that they are tablets with runes, but the runes themselves look very different.

    And how do you make that happen on console with our limitations ... I mean let's be honest here console should really be the focus for the games development as pc players will be gone once other MMOs start popping up later this year

      It's honestly a non-issue if ZOS would want to do it. FFXIV makes us handle 20-30 skills at once and it works out quite well.

      We don't need more slots. Having just a few slots is one of the best features of this game. It makes having to make choices in your build important. Its way better than how that kiddie game WOW did it.
