We know there's Necromancy - How will it work?

Hopefully they dont make the mistake of pets because necromancy is literally a pet death based class to the fullest extent of any thing we currently have in the game. Hopefully its just something similar to warden where it uses a lot of pet based animations and minus the bear.

Sure there will be pets, we already have the indicator for that in game:

    - NPCs raising Flesh Atronach / Bone Colossus
    - NPCs summoning Zombies

I am sure we'll get at least two skills for pets, the Colossus might be similar to Sorcs Atronach and be an Ultimate, the other one a short timed pet. I don't think Necromancer will get permanent pets though.

A different form/colour to the colossus would be cool - maybe a flesh atronach as the Ultimate?

I’m hoping they will have temporary summons similar to the warden animal companions line (minus the bear) rather than having a swarm of targetable pets. Imagine summoning a skeleton to attack the enemy for X seconds, but functionally just a DoT with a fun animation.

But what about 3 15k health draugh which follow you around as your mini undead entourage ?

SO Ladies and Gents, we know now that there IS a necromancer class which will be released.. but how will it work?
In PvP, will i be able to re-animate up to two foes? with them becoming simple NPC's with 20k health and acting as a pet? Or will I be able to summon skeletons from the ground?
Will it be viable for PvE?
Honestly, I'm loving what Im seeing and hearing, and this year looks like its gonna change ESO in a better way.
Let me hear what you think the abilities will be!

It will probably work exactly the same as sorceror pets because if they are more powerful or more useful sorc players will whine more than a 747 starting up and if they are less powerful or useful no one will use the new skills.

What I would like to see though is having a Daedric or Undead pet out be a crime in most cities, or if not a crime then guards attack the pets.

Targeting in PvP is already difficult/annoying when there multiple pets around. Otherwise that would be cool.

Yup.. but thats the playsytle of a Necro - weak as hell, but with lots of summoned minions.

I hope it’s not too heavily based on pets like sorcerer. They did a good job making Warden a “pet class” without relying on many real pets (just the bear, since shalks, racers, flies, and netch are just abilities that look like pets). Or even like Nightblade, where you can summon one shade, and other abilities simply fit with the same theme.

People called me the Warden King. The Warden beast man. One of the strongest players to ever play Warden in PvP. lol

I will love to see a line that will focus on debuffing enemy, the weaker they get the stronger you are, that will be nice!
Kind of buffer/debuffer role, that will add to the grouplay.

That "playstyle" was made popular in games past. But it is not any type of law that game designers must adhere to. All a necromancer is, is a one that practices the arts of reanimating death, both corporeal and spiritual. Just because its a necro does not automatically mean its going to be paper thin with hordes of minions to protect them (a common trope kade popular by diablo 2).

People expecting numerous permanent skely minions running around will be scratching their heads. You will see minionless necro builds, you will see melee necro builds, you will see ranged caster and rnaged stamina necro builds.

An execute kinda function then? the lower health they become, the stronger your ability is?

Ok but I’d love to summon a Dremora/Xivkyn companion as a necromancer. Someone did this as a mod in Skyrim and it’s oddly fun having a Daedric companion/marriage partner follow you around.

Seeing the pets are just so... eh

    Id love this too <3
I remember one of my very old Skyrim characters ( I forgot his name ;-; ) married the Dremora friend bc... experiments. Nobody said a word that day.

I love the idea of a Necromancer, always play one in games that have them. But in this game Necromancers are always evil and everyone reviles them and wants to kill them, calling their actions abhorrent and vile in raising the dead and enslaving their souls. I'm curious how ZOS is going to reconcile that with making the class playable without changing what a Necromancer is and does.

True, but not everywhere. In Skyrim, necromancy is just an inconvenience for the Nords that attempt to keep bodies locked away in Tombs, but they don’t particularly care. In Elsweyer, the Khajit actually allow necromancy by placing stones above buried bodies to let Necromacers know there are bodies there (this could be how they get around the lore).
I love the idea of a Necromancer though, and Ill probably try and main it for PvP.

What? Every unique playstyle, build and set has been effectively destroyed by PvP whinery. I expect 7 threads/minute about "how OP Necromancer is" when the chapter launches.

Sadly there’s been no children yet, the Dremora likes owning a shop more and selling his wares...
