Any chance of a level system overhaul?

I love ESO, I love the classes, the constant balance changes, the meta chase, pvp, pve, pretty much everything. But I absolutely HATE the leveling system. I work full time, I am also a parent, so I get to play about 3-4 hours a week. I have been playing for just over a year and am sitting at 285CP. I want to get into raiding as I did in WoW for years. Over and over again I am declined for YOUR CP IS TOO LOW! I am a very experienced healer, not the best but very good. But constantly my CP is too low... I find myself quitting the game over and over again because of CP and the grind associated with it. I keep coming back because I have spent a ___load of money on the game, I have been a subscriber on my account and my wife's account since day 1 on PS4, and I enjoy it for the most part. But I have yet to do a single raid because of CP. At my current rate of advancement I expect to hit the current CP cap sometime in the next 2 years. Because of this I find myself again not wanting to log in and play; this is actually the first month in 2 years that I have let my sub lapse and I dont see myself re-subbing anytime soon. I am having the same issues with PvP as the non-cp Cyrodiil is almost always dead and I get 1-2 shot in the regular campaign. I get that this is QQ, but if something doesnt change I dont see myself continuing to play or spend money on this game. Is there any chance that this is going to get re-worked at some point in the near future???

I don't participate in trials often because I don't like them, but the guilds I have run with totally let players participate provided they're CP-160 (mainly for gear drop reasons). Keep looking around for folks who aren't so elitist. That's your solution, not a rework of the game's leveling system.

160 for gear drops 320 for a low limit to high end raiding.

There are raids guilds for you. Just look around.

If they require 320CP for raids surely they're going to kick the OP - who has 285CP?

The intent was he is not far from 320 and need not worry about 810 to start high end raiding.

I wouldn't hold out hope on a leveling system overhaul. There are other concerns about CP (you can read lots of comments about the "power creep" on the forums and elsewhere).

Instead I'd suggest you try and join a social guild that does some trials. The guild I belong to, for example, often does trials and we allow anyone to in the guild to join even if they're low CP - because everyone has to start somewhere.

I've been a member of the MMO scene since it became a thing. No other mmo has years worth of grinding just to be competitive. That's why my post is a question. Has nothing to do with difficulty or player skill and everything to do with time investment and GRINDING. Anyone can hit max CP with enough time to grind away endlessly. A time sink has nothing to do with difficulty or skill.

Actually many older MMOs do end up like that. For a real eye opener check out the Asian MMOs if you want to see what years worth of grinding is really like to be competitive.

I have been looking for months. I've joined several but none that have ever completed a trial or raid. Usually what has happened in my experience is that the guild is newly formed by "experienced raiders", folds after the first try/fail, and then disintegrates. This has been frustrating to say the least. At this point I have started considering going back to WoW. The leveling and power creep suck. It is what it is though, I am about over ESO completely. /EndQQ

Find a partner, spend 3-4 hours that week in Skyreach with an XP scroll, you'll end up a much higher CP.

I hear ya as a parent. Family always comes first regardless of what we are itching to learn/run. I have 3 sons and their needs will always come before anything in life. Give it time. One year down and hopefully many more to come. Let your merit in group content show and socialize with those who can teach and give you a shot. I obtained all my CP organically and it serves me better as an end gamer. Patience is something us parents usually do best, the grand adventures will come soon enough OP!

At your level, you're very likely not ready for Vet trials. You need those CP if you're going to survive a lot of the more punishing mechanics. As a healer, you also need the CP to pump into things like Blessed and Elfborn to help make your heals more effective. All support has to be on point or it shows, whereas an underperforming DPS can sort of blend in most of the time and go unnoticed. You just need to spend some of your gaming time putting in the work to get your CP up, and you'll be there in no time.

    Which platform are you on?

This is exactly my point concerning the leveling re-work. At this point in the games life cycle the power creep is so bad that its nearly impossible for someone like me to catch up to end-game groups. I dont have the time to endlessly grind for end game; now that a new expansion is coming out and more updates and more CP levels, I am at the point where the game is clearly no longer for me and I am probably going to walk away from it. Unless of course something changes end game leveling for the better; such as a re-work. I am on PS4. I dont have the time to catch up and at this point I probably never will. I just want to be able to experience content that I have paid for. I am sick of dungeons and vet dungeons. I can solo most of the normal and several of the vet. I am bored with the current content available to me.

I'm sorry but this is not needed. Many game developers have modified their games as they realized that players have a life outside of their game, the casual players as many call them. I can see your point and the OP points both are valid. The fact that the old school gamers of the past are now living actual lives and don't have the time many games want to these players as they are now financially secure and can pay more towards the game making casual players the most sought after players. Hardcore players typically are not as inclined to spend on games like the casual it is why we see more things being designed around the casual player.

My suggestion to the OP is find a 2-3 guilds that are all about running dungeons and trails and let them know in advance you have limited playing time and your interest. Since you are a healer you may get into some of the harder content with lower CP; that is very common in other MMOs where support players are taken along even though they maybe below the expect stat/gear for content.

I myself just hit 160 CP and since I play two MMOs I try to spend more time here than on the other one as I'm BiS on two characters and my third is nearly maxed out as well in the other MMO. In that other MMO I never say no to a support player as long as they are able to run the content. Saying no to a support character is like telling them go play another game and in my experience all MMOs need more support characters and less DPS.

Keep that in mind my prior sentence as you play and if someone says you are to low CP, ask them how long they have waited for a healer and if they are willing to wait even longer or take you along so they can get into the content and get it done. I find that most will be like, yeah take him along he is ok to bring along.

They should just give you max CP scaling in PvE instances (dungeons and trials) to avoid this stupidity of discrimination altogether.

Though I'm against this idea, It wouldn't bother me...
But look at the other side. A large proportion of the population is max cp+. What do they get for years of investment in their characters power in a new system? I'm not exactly criticizing you for wanting this, but I'd love to see your ideas for not causing another issue like when Vet levels ended. People earned their power with time and effort investment. CP is a bit different that the old VR power. I'd really like to see the idea you can come up that doesn't say "Oh, all that investment of time for your power... yea that's gone and this guy who played for 3 months has the exact same power in a patch update even though you put in three years."

I recommend doing a daily random normal dungeon and a daily random battleground. If you're a healer, you should get into the dungeon queue without much difficulty, and a battleground only takes 15 minutes tops. I know those may not be the most appealing things content-wise, but those'll help boost your Champion Points quickly.

This comment isn't meant to belittle your point, but to provide a workable short-term solution -- you can't change players' attitudes overnight, so this'll at least push up your Champion Points and make you more desirable, if not viable, for endgame content.

Like WoW and pretty much every other main stream MMO on the market? Because in WoW max level is max level; gear score doesn't take a year+ to max for new players. What this would encourage is more "casual" players into the game. What I mean by casual is people like me, that played MMO's hard core in school and college and now dont have 20+ hours a week to be competitive in a game that requires months and months of grind in order to max out. I solved the problem, this thread and the game has solidified the fact that this game isn't for me anymore. I have re-subbed to WoW and wont be injecting my funds into this one any further. I appreciate everyone's time and patience and discussion, but I am at the point that logging in is frustrating. I'm sure ill be back in the future if something changes, but until then I am out.

I would recommend doing each one on normal a few times before you attempt vet though

Sorry you're leaving, although that said I wish more who were hostile to the game would do so. Nonetheless, the circumstances in your case make it a shame that you are doing so.

Don't blame the intolerance of other players on the game. If you can only fit in 3 or 4 hours play per week then you can't in all honesty expect either to play to the same standard and level as those who commit more fully to it, or to participate in raiding or (on a viable basis) in PvP. The fact that you claim to have done so in one of the most dumbed down MMOs isn't any kind of justification so far as ESO is concerned. Nor, incidentally, can you expect to have the core game overhauled to meet your unique situation.

As already said, normal dungeons and battlegrounds should be fine for your restricted playtime, and if you want more than that then you need simply to find a sympathetic guild which will accept your circumstances. None of that, however, is a reflection on the game nor is it a criticism of your circumstances, just a reflection on how things are in the real world.
