I like to think of the templar that I play as a virtuous hero. The thing is though, I feel like I could engage in dark behaviors and not pay a penalty for it. If I were playing a villainous vampire lord, I would expect that acts of kindness should negatively affect what I'm striving towards.
So I think it would be great if there were bonuses for being as good as you could be or as bad as you want to be. There could be a passive which grants bonuses by percentage. Or maybe "chests" that can only be accessed based on if you're good or bad enough. Maybe costumes could be a nice reward. More sinister looking costumes for those who earn it by reputation points.
Acting maliciously, like stealing or killing outside of combat, would push a virtuous character away from their bonuses and more towards the villainous bonuses. So it would probably be beneficial to be either "good" or "bad", not neutral.
I know it has its problems though. How would someone who's more chaotic or neutral not be left out of getting some sort of bonus? It would be hard to make it work for "a thief with a good heart".
I just wish an element like this could be added to reward me for not doing things like stealing with a character that I'm role playing as honorable. A reward other than not being accosted by the guards. I think if people wanted to ignore the system, it wouldn't be so invasive that they couldn't. It would add a fun, immersing element to role playing.
